Sorry BRS.. just yanking your chain..... :)

    Here's the article..

    http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014...ker-released-after-19-years-at-newcastle-in/?

This summer finally saw Shola Ameobi part company with Newcastle United. The Nigerian international made his debut for The Magpies in the year 2000 and looked a real talent - with hope high he could go on to become a regular goal scorer for his club.

However, the giant front-man struggled with injuries throughout his time at the club, which began in 1995.

His best tally for the club in a single season was only 11 and he managed 79 goals in 397 appearances - which would have surely been more should injury have not restricted his progress at vital times.

This summer, with the expiration of his contract, he ended his 19 year association with Newcastle - joining Turkish outfit Gaziantep BB.

The club, who were founded after Ameobi became a Newcastle trainee, are currently in the TFF First League - the second tier of Turkish football.

And he is in fine form, Newcastle United fans will be over the moon to hear.

He has played four games for the club, scoring three goals, including a brace against Elazigspor this weekend.

Unfortunately we could not hunt down a video of goals from the Turkish second division but rest assured that a Newcastle hero is doing just fine in his new home.

Great news. He has found his level at last. May he stay there for eternity.

According to match report in Mail on Sunday he came on as a sub on Saturday and helped us to a draw.( Obviously they don't know the difference between him and Sammi )

As a proud member of The Shola Ameobi Fan Club, I say sign him up asap.
We need someone with experience, an eye for goal, injury free and of International Class.

Beggars belief that someone at the club, let him go and replaced him with the bumbling Riviere and the invisible Ferreyra.

Remember how s**t he was mate - what a bumbling, mindless oaf he was on the football field and how every other team laughed at us for the only club pathetic enough to actually employ him. He stole a living here for years. Good riddance to him.

It is amazing we can judge a guy on a half dozen games yet allow such a talentless bastard here for more than a decade. Doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Of course I remember, I'm just being a bit facetious when it comes to Shola.
I don't want him returning, but it seems all we've done is bring 2nd rate players in, no better and arguably worse than what we had.

I think we should stop joking about Shola for the sake of BRS. It isn't pretty when grown men cry.

If there was ever a player that could reduce me to tears, either with laughter or pain it was Shola. I'd miss him if I didn't despise him so much.

I'd have him back to be fair, if only to give us a half chance in the games against Sunderland. Those few points could keep us up.
