Watched the first series but missed the end of it after it stopped for a break. Got the start of the second waiting. It was OK, not to be taken seriously but watchable.
It's excellent but very tongue in cheek. James Spader makes it very watchable, he's brilliant. It's a good concept and definitely worth a watch.
What made me ask was that I've just read an interview with James Spader in the Observer. Downloading episode 1 now.
It is OK. As someone else wrote this is due to James Spaer's performance. Not as good as Fargo but still worth watching.
James Spader excellent, rather contrived but easy to follow. Boston legal is a far better watch, pure class.
Its a truly terrible programme but, as said by others, Spader is very good. The whole premise leads to the least twisty twist ever seen on tv or in film, it treats the viewer like a f**ing moron. I still keep watching though purely because of this, I'm intrigued as to how they reveal the 'twist' that has been absolutely evident since the start of the very first episode. It's that 'so bad it's good' thing. Plus the female lead is hot.
It made me laugh when that bloke got his leg annihilated by a shotgun, snapped bone the lot, and then a week or so later in programme time was running around without a limp. And towards the end of the series when the family dog suddenly appears which apparently has been there the whole time without any mention whatsoever. Lots of **** ups in the writing, it could have been really good but it does feel as if the writers just made it up as they went along without any sort of proper plan. Not to mention how unimaginative and predictable each episodes unique story became and eventually completely irrelevant which just seemed a half arsed sideshow to take up time, then the utterly hideous and laughable attempt to try and tie all the episodes together into the main plot at the end as if they'd only just though about doing that once they got to writing that part.
All of this considered I actually think how bad the writing is enhances Spader's acting. You can almost see and feel his contempt at what he has to put up with and it fits perfectly with his character.
And yet, it still has an 8.2/10 rating on IMDB. I often wonder if their readers have a brain, some of the best TV and Movies get ratings of about 3 on there, probably because it all flies over their little heads.
