This is a load of bollox. You earn the right to be a manager at the top level, you don't just walk into a job because of the colour of your skin. I can't think of one good black manager worldwide, let alone in England. The recent black managers I can think of who have been given a chance haven't been any good.. Ince, chris Powell, terry Connor (wolves). Would you want any of those as manager? No you want the best man for the job.
But i think their argument is the fact that there are few black managers in the lower leagues. They dont get the top jobs because few get the chance to cut their teeth managing the likes of Hartlepool, Rochdale or Kiddeminster!!! Why not??? How many black people apply for these jobs??
It is every bosses responsibility to hire the best person for the job. Whether it be for a bricklayer, joiner, car mechanic, fitter, plasterer or indeed, a football manager. Sadly in this PC age that no longer applies. If I was a builder looking to employ a brickie I'd say 'ok mate, there's a load of bricks & mortar, show me what you can do.' Wouldn't bother me if he was black, white, blue, pink or green as long as he could do the job. Being told that you have to interview a black man when none might not have even applied is quite frankly, ridiculous. Next thing will be, you have to interview a woman, lesbian, puff, handicapped. I mean ffs, where does it all end?
Might be that the weight of the massive ****ing chips on their shoulders are weighing them down? Any one of us would accept a black manager if he was right for the job, there aren't any candidates, plain and simple. To suggest as they always do that the % of black footballers in the league should be proportional to managers is absolute horse ****, it's a % of a smaller pot, which makes the % of the pot that simply isn't interested in coaching bigger. A lot of black former footballers have external interests business wise, and, the key one many are foreign nationals who leave the country after they finish their contracts. For me, it's ****ing bullshit, Ince would have got a top job, had he not ****ed up the middle ground ones he got. That was him being ****, not him being black. I have 6 staff, about to go to 8, all are white. You know why, cos they were the best for the job. Simple. I didn't have any black applicants, does that mean I'm a ****ing racist?
could be worse a lot worse ,what if they promoted the employment of a welsh bloke ...........aaaarrrgggghhhh
What would "kick it out" say if I set up an "Association of white footballers lawyer group" where we would only hire white people and only support White footballers? Racism is racism. Doesn't matter which side you're on. If you refuse to support white people and you're black, then you are a racist organisation.
This is exactly what causes resentment mate...Racism is only recognised in one direction at this present time..
Next up is why aren't there any female managers in the top flight! That's all we need, managers who don't understand the offside rule and hoy boots about the changing room, regular as clockwork once a month. And no, Pardew whining like a girl doesn't count!!!!
Totally agree with this....the Premier League is a results orientated business. Does anyone go on about how many white managers that have been fired....is that discrimination as well? Billy summed it up here It is every bosses responsibility to hire the best person for the job. No need to go any further than that...
More bollox from people who have never run a business or employed anyone. I sacked a guy this weekend, why because he was stealing from me. What colour was his skin??? It does not matter. Thats what colour. I employed someone to replace him who came to see me asking for a job, what colour was his skin? It does not matter.
This. We have a lot of face to face meetings with corporations around the world, a lot of which are at boardroom level in North America, them lot will not take you seriously if you turn up looking like Rab C Nesbitt. 8 out of 10 positions are filled by sharp, well dressed and healthy looking girls and fellas. I don't care if I'm told to employ a scruffy, spotty, swampdonkey who's never seen a toothbrush, tough **** kid, it's your own fault for turning up to my office, asking for a job, looking like you've just been kicked through a skip, that kind of person is gonna make no money for me. In fact one of them came away from my office with a 'No' from me called me and asked if they were over qualified and they should dumb down their CV. I told him he'd just confirmed to me I'd made the right choice and put the phone down on him.
Exactly mate. I know it's not ethical, but appearance counts in the industry I'm in. One lad got a job last year, came in wearing jeans but apologised straight away and everything else about him was immaculate. Started him off with a £500 starting bonus that we told him to spend on a suit. I'd rather give somebody like that a chance than some jumped up qualification collector who thinks the world owes them a living.
Just read Steve Jobs autobiography. He wouldn't have stood a chance with you. He was smelly (off his stupid Vegan diet.) unkempt and often just wore cutoff shorts with no shoes. Used to turn the suits right off, until they heard his passion for what he was doing. Me, I always employed the best person for the job regardless of what they looked like. But then there were never many suits to be seen on a building site.
