The overall start we've had is still good. Top 4. Anyone would have taken that at start of season. Whether timing of subs was right on not is up for debate, but even if you accept they were wrong, we're still doing ok. We're doing much better that most on here thought we would. Of course there's room for improvement, but we're not as bad as you like to make out. Your problem is that you're far too negative.

have you ever played the game, 2-1 up, make a change to get 3-1 up, monk has no fking idea about when to make his subs. I have no probs with his initial team selection but he needs someone to advise him re the subs as he seems clueless

Got to be honest I thought we were lethargic .Monk to be fair yesterday kept faith with the eleven that started for so long because we looked easily capable of beating the toon, with krull
making two good saves from Bony it could have been quite different

**** sake you lot, there was a decent debate going on here regarding different view points of the game.
I'm closing this thread to delete the usual bollocks and then I'll re open it.
The next person to kick off will get a ban.

Agree with that but the first 11 more or less picks itself.

With one injured player (Leon) and one suspended player (Rangel) the players on the field yesterday will always be picked ahead of the alternatives.
(Personally I'd try Jazz for Taylor but that is speculative as Jazz is a midfield player. Amat won't oust Fernandez nor Bartley, Ash.)
Other than possibly Montero (and does he take over from Routs or Dyer), who would be picked ahead of yesterday's starting 11?
Emnes for for Ki or Siggy? Not from the start. Even Carroll is probably not strong enough to push Jonjo out of the team. And Gomis is no Bony.
A lot was said about the improved squad this season but are we really any better overall?

    IMO our squad

    Fab is better than Vorm
Rangle / Tiedalli / Jazz - no change but Rangel may need additional support this season.
Fernandez / Amat - Chico was better than Fernandez - so far, so no improvement.
Ash / Batrley - no change
Taylor / King - don't get me started Ben every day of the week - weaker as first choice and second.
Dyer / Routs / Emnes / Montero - Montero is better than Pablo (because of injuries) other than him no difference. Lamah never made an impact. - Improved on the wing.
Siggy / Jonjo / Ki / Leon / King / Fulton - Ki has made a difference and Siggy has produced a high number of assist so all in all a slight improvement on Canas / JdG but Fulton and King aren't setting the world alight, nor will they. None are as good as a fit Michu. Overall arguable but about the same.

Bony / Gomis - has to be better than Bony / N'Gog / Vasquez / Schecter but again it's early days and Gomis has yet to feature enough to be compared.

Better overall? Not proven I think, just different.

Lib was responding to an earlier post Phill. But you know that, right?

The problem is from the usual, rather childish posters who simply cannot bear any sort of criticism of the team. Couple that with some people who throw grenades around that are calculated to provoke and the mods have a problem.

I was against the appointment of Monk from the start but have always supported him and consistently given credit where it's due, and it's good to see that some posters like DragonPhil and Valley are prepared to criticise when it's warranted. That's what being a fan is all about - not having a pop at posters simply for "being too negative". FFS we're entitled to be 'negative' when we spunk away points against a piss poor team that hasn't scored away all season and whose striker can't usually hit a barn door puts two past us!

I actually think that most of our players were very good yesterday, and have said so, but a word to the wise for those tossing off at our position in the league - we're 3 points off 15th too and if we keep losing concentration and making silly mistakes we'll be closer to that than many of you think pretty soon.

FYI it's called debate, and being a bit more grown up than some of you are right now. <grr>

I didn't see anything in his post that was a response, all I saw was a rant.

I have never been against Monk,or his appointment.
Have I been critical of his management style?Too right, I have, and I gave my reasons, which were based on my own managerial training and experience.
    Unfortunately,the Monkettes find this unacceptable.

I don't hate him as some allude. Why would I hate someone I don't know?
Some fools still insist that I hate him.
I have challenged them to produce posts that will confirm that hatred..
Needless to say, since they don't exist, none have been forthcoming.

At the time of Laudrup's sacking I stated that, "it was on the cards, and came as no surprise to me".
I have lost count of the number of times I have reiterated the above.
There are those who are so blinded by hatred of Laudrup, that they jumped on anything,or anyone, that showed ANY kind of interest in Laudrup, his achievements, and what he did for the Club.

THESE PEOPLE ARE JUST SO FOOLISH,IT ALMOST BEGGARS BELIEF.

The sheep rule this Forum, and it keeps getting worse, day by day.
Liars, and those who turn a blind eye to facts and reality, thrive here. In fact, they are encouraged to thrive.

All about balance I guess. When you have a go at someone for criticising the team when it's absolutely warranted he's going to respond, and rightly so. Don't see anything wrong with that myself. <ok>

You can't have watched what happened yesterday and say nothing went wrong. A game we actually played well in, scored two superb goals but eventually drew. Football debate is all about discussing what (if anything) the players and / or manager could have done differently. If you don't like that debate but think we should collectively say "look how far we've come" then you're in the wrong place imo.

I really don't understand why some posters don't get that. They see any criticism as treasonous, and that's a completely wrong attitude. It's because we care about the Club and pay good money to watch them in many cases that we post here in the first place. Remember that.

No team is perfect on this planet and will all deemed to have made mistakes if the opposition scores a goal. You cant expect the swans players to be perfect in any game as it will never happen. Do you think messi don't make any errors of judgments during a game that leads to a goal because he certainly does and so do every player who plays the game. How do you think we score goals??? Its because of opposition players making errors and we are no different. The winners are usually the ones who make the least errors in the game so when you bash the players for not stopping a team from scoring remember that they are human and everyone makes errors of judgments everywhere..
