Sole Power & Gleneagles double also had a small ew on Flintshrre @ 33's yday aswell as my main bet on Harp Star @ 10/1
Pavements in Paris are dry so doesn't look like it rained too much through the night! Just two short bursts at 8pm and midnight! All looking good for Sole Power, have a big bet on him and also a double with taghrooda! Will probably back the wow factor to small stakes and the rest of the card I will look at at the course
Ladbrokes are going 8/1 the field. http://www.racingpost.com/news/live.sd?event_id=3759624&category=0 That probably says more about their business than the race although the bigger priced horses are much shorter.
Arc day is one of my favourite meetings of the year. It certainly puts the 'no needed' Champions Day to shame. Sole Power has a great chance in the Abbaye back at 5f while Mirza could be a good each way bet at around 14/1. Ervedya was third behind The Wow Factor and Hootenanny in the Prix Morny over 6f and should do better back against her own sex and should appreciate the step up to 1m. Citron Spirit could be an interesting runner in the Grand Criterium having won his last two starts very easily in Germany. Tarfasha has a great chance in the L'Opera is running to her form. Crisolles could be interesting at 18/1 on her form behind Arc fancy Avenir Certain. In the Arc itself, without Sea The Moon and Australia, I have Taghrooda as my tentative selection. She won the King George well and was apparently in season when defeated in the Yorkshire Oaks. I expect her to give a truer account of herself today. I can't have Ectot on his form and Treve doesn't look the same horse this year. Ruler Of The World won well last time over CD and could be a leading contender. Stamina could be the issue for Just A Way and Harp Star may be the best of the Japanese challengers. Ivanhowe and Kingston Hill could have some good each way value.
Morning Nice to see the sunshine out, there is 2 like for the Arc this afternoon: Taghrooda - I know not done any favours by the wide draw but I still think has the class to go close and with 4 places on offer then I will be having a play. Treve - I cannot get away from Treve, won so impressively last year, thing's have not gone to plan so far this season but I think today you will see a different horse and this will be by main bet of the day, and at 8/1 that will do me. Good luck to all having a punt today
Him v Olympic Glory will be some match up can't wait for the action to start although will have to watch it later, am out competing XC
It's Avenir Certain for me in the Arc. She's done absolutely nothing wrong, and her LTO run at Deauville suggests she acts on any going and should stay the trip, even though on breeding it would certainly suggest otherwise? Will have her in a modest e/w double too with sprinter Rangali. Good luck today everyone, and enjoy Arc day!
Don't often get tips, and this is hardly from the horses mouth, but Kingston Hill at 25/1 been suggested as a good each way. Stan James are offering 1/4 odds for 4 places.
I was utterly convinced Maarek would with the Abbaye last year but can't really see it happening this year. Ground probably too quick and yard wanted to get another run into him before the race. 28/1 too big about him though and would be utterly over the moon if he won as love him to bits. I like Avernir Certain in the big one and think The Wow Signal is an unbelievable price at 5/2
Great to see Ruby back in the saddle today and I hope and think he makes a winning return on Indevan in the Tipperary 5.20. Won so easy the last time, hard to see it not winning today. Very confident Over in France I'll be cheering Sole Power home. He's a class above the UK/Irish sprinters as shown all season and is one of the best we've seen for a long time. Backed Treve antepost in the Arc but she won't win. No strong views, dont fancy the UK/Irish challenge, so would like to see the Japanese land it. Surely they deserve it having been knocking on the door so often. This could be their year...
Can't believe I wasn't on Move In Time backed it last 5 times its run but abandoned it today and went for Hot Streak because Spencer wasn't on it for once
Another gelded h'capper wins a G1 sprint...awful division. Moviesta very unlucky and an interesting run from Guerre who completely missed the kick and got checked several times,as did most of the field tbf..he could be interesting next year if kept in training. I wonder how long until the excellent DO'M gets some decent material to work with from the top owners.
Well done to connections of Move In Time on winning the Abbaye, another Group 1 sprint winner for David O' Meara and Danny Tudhope! Sole Power was attempting to be the first horse to complete the King's Stand/Nunthorpe/Abbaye treble since Dayjur in 1990, but he was priced at 7/4, second favourite was 10/1 so there sure was each way value with the other runners! Sole Power has failed to win the Abbaye in three previous runs so a few punters would've opposed him on the exchanges, as you always need luck in running with so many runners in a sprint at Longchamp.
