Emnes. Got a french international on the bench and we bring on Emnes. I dont know why im so surprised that he repeatedly ****s things up.
Monk has got to learn to make the correct subs at the right time. We should have made subs around the 70minute mark.
Very frustrating, but at least we didn't lose and we know we were the better team. Still bloody annoying we didn't win it.
FFS .... we should have taken this game and won going away. No way should we have allowed this lot to score one goal never mind two. A lack of intensity and tempo. Another alarming lack of the use of subs by Monk .... I don't get it. Subs were brought on much, much too late to get involved. We paid a ton for Gomis and we sub on Emnes for Sig.
The disappointing thing was, that they had two attempts on target when we were wining and concede two goals from these attempts. Pissed off now!!
Although Emnes' touch was shocking at the end, it's hard to blame him for the result. You bring on a player that late in the game into a team that's struggling, it's difficult. There's pressure on your every movement and touch to make an instant impression. I'm putting this one all on Monk. You're 2-1 up at 60 minutes. Killing the opposition and you're the only team in it. You have to remember that your team has played 60 minutes too though. We definitely should have identified where to put on fresh legs to ensure that we kept our foot on the throat and got a killer third. Instead, our team visibly tired and Newcastle came back into it. Making subs to try and salvage the win at 85 minutes is too late. We should have made subs to consolidate the win against a very poor Newcastle side. If we can't have some tactical adventure against them, then when can we? Tactically naive today.
And we have let a crap team like Man City jump over is into 3rd - that Champions league place is in danger
