Does everyone have to go through that BB? I'm guessing white Anglo Saxon Christians, aren't deep researched.
Ha. Everyone mate, every visitor to the US, some countries still have to apply for a full visa also (generally these will be difficult to get...). An ESTA gives you 2 years of entry to the US for a maximum period of days per visit, which I can't remember, ha. I've just renewed mine a few days ago.
So my first step should be to sort this ESTA out? How exactly do I go about that mate? Nobody rang my brother about the New York trip he was after, he waited a few days and then went with somebody else cos he just wanted it booked.
Did the US a couple of years ago and used one of the new passports and was granted an electronic visa in advance.
Some US states are discussing the merits of legalising cannabis, so I honestly can't imagine that declaring a caution for mere possession is going to prevent you from travelling there...
Not sure mate to be honest..I have never been to the USA, so have never had to deal with the problem. However, if they are stopping people from entering the country for every minor offence then that seems very bizarre to me.
83 - just tell them that you support the strikes against the (Hamas/kids/Any f**ker that is in the way) in Palastine I'm sure you will be fine
some of the questions are hilarious though Have you ever been or are you now involved in espionage or sabotage; or in terrorist activities; or genocide; or between 1933 and 1945 were you involved, in any way, in persecutions associated with Nazi Germany or its allies? * or are you seeking entry to engage in criminal or immoral activities?
Been to Florida a few times and have a couple of football related convictions. Never admitted to anything. Never had any bother. Not sure if a drug caution is different.
Have you ever been arrested or convicted for an offense or crime involving moral turpitude or a violation related to a controlled substance; or have been arrested or convicted for two or more offenses for which the aggregate sentence to confinement was five years or more; or have been a controlled substance trafficker; or are you seeking entry to engage in criminal or immoral activities? is one of the questions
I've been over to new york twice over the last year. Basically you need a waiver visa as mentioned above. Apply online via esta website you will have a response within 48 hours. If you get it you are ok if you don't you know why. Also as mentioned above don't book anything until you do so, your kid will need one also. If you have a recent passport it's all done electronic and the waiver visa will show on your passport when they check at customs. If you don't have a waiver visa they won't let you in, no leniency. They won't do any checks there that's what the waiver visa is for, so if you get it your good, if not time for alternative plans. Do it today so you know, doesn't cost much.
I went in 2006 & 2008, which I suppose was before they brought ESTA in. I just booked a flight and went, as you would to other countries that don't require a visa for UK citizens - Mexico, Georgia, Armenia, etc. (all of which I've been to). At immigration they took my fingerprints and stamped my passport, and when I left stamped my passport again and checked I hadn't stayed for longer than the permitted number of days (again as they did in Mexico, Georgia, Armenia, etc.) However, this is bye-the-bye for SAFC83 who needs to get in in 2014 when ESTA exists. Each to their own, but Gill T Azell and me just never declared our convictions, and the US authorities never checked. I can't see a father with a young child being a prime suspect. I'd just go for it and not mention the conviction, but that's just me.
Which is why I suggested to 83 to omit mentioning it. Even if a human said a caution is no problem, it will be flagged electronically as a drug offence. And computers have a habit of hoying out facts without any human element involved. "Computer says no!" If he gets pulled on it, just claim omission by ignorance.
