Not good from Rodgers

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Jürgenmeiʃter, Oct 3, 2014.

  1. That's a joke right? If serious then can I have a job please as you'd be piss easy to work for!!!

I don't expect a Suarez, I expect players to work for their team mates. Mario does the bare minimum to get by. He jogs when he had to but usually stops after five yards! He's a lazy arsed ****, and that's coming from me!!!

  2. You also signed a well known crock in Demba Ba. Your owner didn't give a short then either.

To be honest, I think Balotelli is much better than people give him credit for. The issue here, is that he is not a "replacement" for Suarez. He is a quality striker, a difficult player to play against and is capable of great things (see Italy vs. England). His game is not to chase around the pitch and hurrang/harass everyone.

Is he a good player to have? I'd say yes. Is he a good enough replacement for Suarez? No. That said, how many players in the world would give you what you got from Suarez or be as good - maybe 6 or so. Also, he played with both Sterling + Sturridge, both of whom were fit, available and on form. Give him a chance boys.

Yuck, can't believe I'm sticking up for a Liverpool player - got some sick in my mouth now.

  5. I don't think he's worked hard once. He ran a bit more than I expected and did alright in the Derby but he's not done enough in any game for me.

  6. Berbatov is a much better player than Mario but equally as lazy. I wouldn't want him either despite him being able to link play, plus create and score goals too. Why? BECAUSE HE IS LAZY!!!

I don't question Mario's ability, he clearly as some. He is just everything I hate in a footballer in one package!

It's not Mario's fault either, it's Brod's fault for signing such a misfit of a player for our style and approach

Not sure what you're expecting from Gez, to be chasing down absolutely everything?

The man has to occupy so much space - he clearly cannot sprint between players. It's unfair - Suarez would do it because a) he's physically fit and crazy enough to do and b) he had Sturridge has his partner who would cut off the space.

The number of times he comes deep to get the ball and work for it - plus he tracks back quite a bit. You expect him to do that all game?

We had the same reservations about Sturridge but we're all raving about him.

Not saying that Mario has set the world alight but he's done more than other players in this team but it's him who's being made a scapegoat. A 24 year old, 'misguided' player, trying to adapt to a new style of play and new teammates.

Agree on that I would love him up front instead of Balo.

And what annoys me most about this is how Rodgers is quick to blame some players and blow smoke up the a*ses of others when ultimately, his team selections and formation is what has cost us this season.

its an easy thing to say now as we are playing ****e and that's probably fair to say about the whole team, not just individuals, who's to say come jan we might be top 6 somewhere and then the loan deal for origi would be seen as a good thing long term.

see what impact he may have on our season at the end of it, to say whether he was worth the risk or not ie where we may end up, but not after 6-7 games, took crouchy 15 games or so didnt it to get going, and he had a positive effect that season i think.

  11. I expect him not to stand around feeling sorry for himself. I expect him to be part of the team and I expect him to close defenders down IF the team is pressing. I don't expect him to chase everything, hell I didn't expect Suarez (yet you claim he dud ) or Dirk Kuyt to chase everything!!!

I appreciate you wanting to support a Liverpool player and I want to do the same which is why I keep saying its not the player I blame, its the manager for buying him. It reminds me 100% of us signing Andy Carroll; both have their qualities but neither fit. thing is, Andy Carroll looks like a workhorse at the side of Mario!

  12. I'd be happy with George from rainbow upfront instead of Mario!

  13. Like who? He's massively criticised Henderson, Enrique, Skrtel and Flanno all of which have excelled since (maybe not consistently)

  14. We are playing **** so something has to change. There are only eleven positions and probably only seven (Migs, Lovren, Moreno, Gerrard, Hendo, Sterling and Mario) that are considered first choice picks that have been playing. We've actually been better defensive bar set-pieces and we're struggling to score goals. Who do you suggest we change?

Easy answer is obviously putting studge back in once fot.

there is 2 positions that are wrong for starters, neither should be guaranteed starters, i know we don't have many options or the same luxery as other clubs for example, but use chelsea as an example, most of them would probably consider lampard a chelsea legend(like we do gerrard), but if he wasn't up to it he was dropped, no ifs buts maybes, that's our biggest issue with these 2 players.

i would like to see stevie just get cl games as his experience in europe would be vital, but league wise like to see more of can, allen and henderson, see if it is the answer, also sisu should be given more games, but now he is ruddy injured <doh>

dont know, think we will have to pray long and hard until jan window and hope for a miracle lol.

Another problem we have is the fact we have a keeper who is rooted to his line, and we have skrtel in defence which then drags the defensive line deeper, you have a DM who has no legs so is forced to drop deep and it creates a massive hole in the middle of the park. So Ballo either stays up field but become isolated, or drop deeper to get the ball thus leaving empty space in the box.

Can't remember Rodgers criticising Flanno or Skrtel, and neither have excelled. Flanno is now at a reliable, average squad member and Skrtel continues to make mistakes but is Rodgers number 1 defender it feels.

Henderson - I do remember after he tried to sell him. Maybe this is the approach that he's taking to Mario. Hard hitting criticism? Maybe trying to tame Mario is having a negative impact. It's the same with the lieks of Rooney and Suarez - take the passion and anger out of their game and you lose the genius.

He was vindicated though, Ba had very few injury troubles and is still banging them in for Besiktas.
Besiktas also obviously thought he was in good health.

What needs to change is the formation and set up - 4231 is not good for anyone.

Gerrard cannot play in a 2 man midfield, regardless of who is paired up with. Putting Henderson alongside him restricts his game. Coutinho as the number 10 when he is far better as a CM, and Sterling and Markovic in fixed wing positions isn't good as they are good centrally and like to drift.

Apparently you're back in transition, and it's the same as you were 2 years ago according to Rodgers.

£230m later and you're back at the start.....because a player who he never bought, left. Brilliant <applause>
