Humanity is a foreign word at an Elloughton bowling club. I hope these stuck up pigs get as much coverage as they deserve. I don't do facebook, or twitter, so i'm asking those on here who do,to get tweeting. This should go national. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Bowl...yndrome-8211/story-23032157-detail/story.html
Agreed Kempes. Disgraceful. Good luck to the lads, hope they get sorted out from this. They're in good hands with a sister willing to fight for em.
Already has. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...on-East-Yorks-make-players-uncomfortable.html ****ers. (The bowling club members that is.)
Not snobbery of nimbyism, just ignorance unlike us voting not to have HCC run our services which was common sense
I'm sorry lads, but this a very different thing. There are good people and bad people wherever they might live. I know there will be people in Elloughton tonight who feel ashamed, good people who would never have behaved in such a way. Please don't turn this into some worthless debate, it's purely a social issue. Oh and by the way, i like Albran
I would have thought this would be covered by the DDA - It's direct discrimination, they're being denied access to something that wouldn't be denied to a non-downs person. Is the club not considered an "organisation" in the legal sense of the word?
People with disabilities are discriminated against in so many ways, but don't seem to get the support other groups do. Quite a few of them are inspirational.
Oh, absolutely - I wouldn't disagree with a word of that and there are far too many situations where discrimination occurs and nothing can be done about it, in that sense though it is usually indirect discrimination where people get away with it, as it is often too difficult to prove that a person or a company acted in a discriminating way. In this case, however, the sister was told directly that the brothers were not welcome, and it was made clear that the reason for this was their disability. If this is the case, then that definitely is direct discrimnation, and the Disability Discrimination Act is very clear on that. I just looked at the website for the DDA, and it refers to applying to Larger Private Clubs - I think this is may be where the bowling club has got away with it. That club is scum though. I saw on Calendar that the brothers have been offered a place by a new club - I really hope they end up playing people from the Elloughton club and smash them into next week.
