I'm shocked. Yet more proof Woy is bonkers.

Im flabbergasted. At least Nathan and Wayne get a little break to re charge their battries. Roy Hodgson is a muppet.

Congrats to him, but I am shocked.

Congrats Jonjo but seriously? No Routs or Dyer?

Obviously just responding to what he reads in the press. Shows how much he knows

It must be a matter of being shorter in central midfield than where Routs and Dyer play .

It just confirms that he hasn't seen much of us this season. Probably going by what he has see on MOTD

Obviously they havent picked any of our wingers, Spurs have a fourth choice one who is English and obviously going to be picked.

Well done to Shelvey, but he is in a position where he is unlikely to play due to the numbers they have, where as England are short of good wide men and if Woy picked our wingers he would have to play them as he would see they are better than the **** he has picked.

Don't mean this as being nasty but, can't help feeling he is just paying us lip service.

I don't get it. Shelvey hasn't done much to us impress us this season .... and we're on his side. Routs and Dyer on the other hand have been doing very well.

This is going to reinforce whatever is going through Shelvey's head that he's doing well versus the fact that he really needs to get his **** much better together.

    Congrats to Jonjo :emoticon-0150-hands

    but WTF?????? <yikes>

It shows Roy hasn't a scooby, he talks about ball retention and passing and picks a player that does neither particularly well.

Got to say I'm gutted for Nathan and Routs but Dyer in particular.

Just as Dyer has started to iron out the flaws in is game (poor finishing for example) Shelvey needs to get some consistency to be a top player. Capable of brilliance but suspect to awful lapses in concentration. Well done to him but like others I'm amazed.

Yankee, they interviewed GM on sky and he was more than full of praise for Shelvey's performances this year. (Not that he would say he has been ****). But perhaps their better knowledge than ours means they are seeing things that we don't. For all that I still believe that he hsa been the weakest of the 3 English possibles this year.

Unless they are seeing a completely different game they must be seeing a player who has this season given the ball away more than any other player, has one of the lowest pass completion statistics of any player, looses his cool and gives away needles free kicks, gets lost for long periods. But he is very much an 'English' player - big on boot low on finesse.
I think Roy may have seen the quote about Jonjo wanting to play like Shhteeeeevie Gehraaahhd and believed it to be true.

Woy has picked Andros Townsend who has hardly played for Spurs - yet continues to overlook both Routs and Dyer:steam:

Taff I said that earlier, a 4th choice Spurs winger will always be picked before ours. Woy picks on past reputation and nothing to do with current form.

Mark Hughes raised the point on sky earlier (i was shocked that i actually agreed with him) Everton have one of the worst defensive records in the PL. yet. 3 of the defenders selescted for England play for Everton. he was moaning about the omission of Shawcross. He does have a bit of a point.

Is Jonjo the first current Swansea player to be called up to the full England squad?
