Ultimate responsibility falls with Rodgers. His team, his tactics and his results. I am now looking at his signings and doing a fair comparison with the teams that finished in top 4 positions

    City (Champions)
Not only did they have a brilliant team already they added Fernando DM ,Mangala DF and a solid Backup Goalkeeper.

    Chelsea
Bought in January Matic who is a brilliant holding midfielder. Added Costa Fabregas and Filipe Luiz while recalling back a world class goalkeeper

    Liverpool
We were shipping goals left right center and this was covered by the brilliant attack we had in Suarez and Sturridge. The reality is we added bodies but we did not cover a very important area of the field in Gerrard's position. How he is still playing week in week out and having players cover/run for him is criminal. It is not his fault but the managers fault. We need intensity and he cannot do it.

The bulk of the team is Rodgers now but I expect in two months he should have figured out how to play them all together otherwise come end of the season he may be in a very difficult position.

See what I mean? Clueless....not one person on here described any of the signings on here as world class, in fact there was a fair few who described them as pants...the rest of us adopted and continue to adopt the wait and see approach......

So unless you forgot the " " to indicate sarcasm, it's only you who's calling them world class which makes you a bit thick.....either that or you have voices with Scouse accents talking to you in your head......unfortunate for a Manc that......

But while on the subject of "world class" how's that team being paid world class fees and wages doing for you...it's beat QPR and West Ham with the help of a ref so far eh? What's your captain going to do this week....lead from the Trafford centre and shout at Coleen when she spills her big Mac.......?

Get your "jokes" in now as you'll obviously lose your internet connection after Everton beat you on Sunday......

now you also say breifly houlliers cheyrou and other such signings in 2004 so that was as bad but eyah... aside from hodgosn.... end of rafa and oh rodgers own first season it is probably at the same level...

I just want to give a brief summation of our situation now.

Real madrid are now on 6 points therefore will win the group easily.
Basel are on 3 points with a -3 GD but are second
LFC are now thrid on 3 points with 0 GD
The nobodies have zero points bust credit for their performances

why are LFC third? because results between teams are what counts. Basel beat us 1-0.

the reality of our situation is start.

Real will PROBABLY hammer us to take the group. they play basel later so might have already top spot clinched and might not bother with them... thats not good at all.

If say real win both v us and win v basel that takes them out of the equation. therefore the two games that matter are the nobodies away and basel at home.

therefore our first hurdle is Ludogorets away.... does anyone see us reliably beating them? away in november 26th... right now no f'n way. however basel didn't look that good and could easily bottle it against them

    anyway

It looks to me the best we can hope for realistically is a final game showdown with basel at anfield on the 9th December. This would be a game where we cannot rely on GD despite having a superior on than basel so we'd need to beat them by 2 clear goals to be sure.

Its not 2005 and gerrards not scored a piledriver like it in years.

we took an easy group and f'd it up. we are looking for the no hopers to take points of basel and real madrid not rolling us over.

Yep Balotelli is our Lukaku. For half the price. And you don't have a Sturridge.

Nah, that's irrelevant news, Jimmy. Because, unfortunately for us, BR didn't play him when fit anyway! <doh>

Suso should have been rotated with Coutinho. Having a youngster nipping at his heels and vying for his place would certainly focus the lad. At least, that's the theory.

Meh... we may lose against Ludo away but so might Basel.

Essentially a 1-0 win at Anfield at the moment could be enough to top Basel. It's not over yet... and just like the last two seasons- I expect us to improve after a torrid first few months.

We were this bad early on the last two seasons too- but we got by with lucky wins last season at this stage whilst looking dyer. We could be a much better team by the time Basil Brush comes to Anfield.

they may but yes MAYBE a 1-0 at anfield could top basel for 2nd but that assume we'll do better v real madrid than basel did. now basel too a beating so we have 3 goals up on them nw

we were NOT this bad at this stage last year. Our only bit of a flop last year was carling cup crap.

i think ludicrous away is going to be embarrassing.. i hope not but its a month away with real in between. at least we'll know by then if basel screw the pooch.
