For me, Rodgers has to take the blame this season purely because of playing 4-2-3-1 system. It does not suit us and he should know this by now. Playing a 2 man midfield with Gerrard simply does not work - playing him alongside Hendo means we then limit Hendo's contribution. Playing Sterling and Markovic in fixed winger positions limits them. Playing Coutinho as a number 10 does not work, he should be deeper! And if Rodgers cannot see what is wrong with Skrtel, then God help us all. Skrtel has a lot of fans because he is dross. A lot of mistakes are not clearly visible hence why he gets let off but yday, we saw a clear error from him. Balotelli worked hard, held the ball up well and beat his man a few times. But he simply does not have options. So frustrating because I actually thought Basel would be a lot better but they were absolutely awful. Our team last season would have spanked these lot. Sterling had some golden chances but fluffed them. He's allowed a poor game but at least he driving into the box and getting into positions. And it was good to see Coutinho having a decent impact as well. Rodgers needs to sort this out because he's playing in the wrong formation and it's cost us throughout the season. Whether it's down to injuries forcing his hand or if he's massively misjudging our personnel.

I see a comment above about coutinho btw from jimmy... what precise impact di the lad have cos his work rate was pants and he let lads go without any tracking. he never got up to support balotelli at all if he is a no 10 position so he was for me one for the bin for the next month.
