Can't think of one player for us who put in a good performance.. Manquillo, arguably.

Did Liverpool do the cardinal sin in Europe and set up to play for the draw? Mentality and approach all wrong and if you play for the draw, you can't get back into it when you go a goal down.

Only watched the last 25 minutes.

Conceded from another set piece <laugh>
Have to laugh really... new keeper and CB please. Skrtel for all his "awesome ability in the air" still can't dominate in the air <doh>
Gerrard still looks as slow as he ha all season, playing him in every game isn't going to help.

From what I saw there was no pressure on the ball from front to back. Balotelli isn't going to close defenders down loads, but Sterling, Markovic, Henderson, Coutinho never seemed to push on and close players down.

Ah well, a defeat against Basel isn't a huge shock and they never seem to really test us defensively from what I saw (not sure what 1st half was like).

Can't wait for Sturridge & Allen to get back and put them straight into the team to add some pace upfront and mobility in the middle.

Oh, and Sterling was atrocious. Could have had 2 but seemed to dawdle on the ball and then miss control. Let him off this time as everyone can have an off day.

Lovren and Skrtel are absolute ****. Our defending in set pieces is embarrassing and I'm sick of watching a free kick or corner being delivered and ****ting myself over every cross, it's something they ****ing do. If we can't score then fair enough, we need to work on it but keep a ****ing clean sheet.

Mignolet at fault for the goal again. Got a full hand to the ball and pushed it back into the danger area. Useless keeper.

Mignolet did a double fist pump when the whistle blew for half time. I suppose a clean sheet was job done for the first half.

Let's be honest Basle are no mugs at home so it's not a disastrous result. However, from a tactics perspective their manager had Rodgers bending over and with Sterling having a stinker there wasn't really anyone else on the pitch or on the bench who could drag Liverpool into the game.

Not at all, he said we weren't good enough technically and that conceding set pieces is now becoming very worrying as it's something there looking at every game.

Last season, Suarez, Sterling, Studge, or Coutinho would have saved us.
This season, Suarez is gone, Studge is injured, Coutinho is still on vacation, and Sterling has saved us on occasion, but is having to do it all himself most weeks and is perhaps a tad mentally knackered.

None of the new boys are making an instant impression up top. I think a lot of it is the oonfidence pendulum has swung the other way.

I don't fault Sterling. He was rested a couple of weeks ago...and Liverpool lost iirc. Then suddenly a complete change and since then I think he's played 2 league games, Capital One game for 120 mins, and 2 CL games? in the space of what, 2 weeks? He's being played like the team's fate depends on the sole ability of a 19 year old. Situation reminds me of Januzaj for United last season.

Apart from Skrtel deciding to wrestle the player and not get a decent head on it... Lovren turning his back so it hit him on the back and went towards goal and maybe the player on the line not calling for it when he had an easy clearance.

    <ok>

    Well that was a massive anti-climax. <doh>

Just a tame, insipid, listless performance. If that game was a biscuit it would be a soggy disgestive half of which has fallen into the cup of tea. If it was a horse, I'd shoot it and make glue out of it.

Absolute clown shoes from start to finish. The many worlds theory of the universe posits that somewhere in some alternate reality we played s**tter than we did tonight . . . but I think that's bollocks!

    :steam:

Ah, well. Night, night, all. This is possibly the only time in my life that I wished I had a cat. They are good for stress relief, apparently. . . Kicking one would certainly help me tonight!

Disagree,Skrtel to blame if anyone for over-running the ball (concentrating on the player too much)

Sometimes a keeper doesn't have time to push a ball out of danger,it just needs saving

Sorry that's bollox. Ball shouldn't have been within ten feet of him. He reacted. If he hadn't and it went past the defender on the line you'd be blaming him for not being decisive enough.

I'm not defending Migs....He's average so far this season like the entire team performance wise.

But that goal was Skrtels fault all day long and its why I don't want to see him on the pitch again.

He doesn't defend....he panics, he tries to molest other men.....he kicks or heads the ball towards his own net as he's rarely facing the ball when it's coming to him and as Carra has just said he will never ever change....

Pick Lovren and Sakho (when fit)and win or lose play them for ten games and then we can judge Migs as he'll have no excuses about an unsettled defence in front of him.

Let the full backs know it'll be the same planks inside them every game and they'll learn when to run and when not to.

Get caan fit and tell Gerrard to go on a long holiday.......might as well as at this pace the captain will lead BR to the sack. Might as well go out with balls than letting Stevie continue to do post match interviews like he's actually contributing to the club anymore......words is all yes good at these days...oh and glory set pieces......

Shoot Ballotelli with those darts out of raiders of the lost ark......

    Give Markovic some viagra.....

It's a bit like waking up and being at the beginning of the 2012/13 season.

A team that's static and no pressing.
    A dodgy keeper
    Defenders who,can't defend set pieces
    Soft goals ( beach ball)conceded
A young winger, who after looking brilliant for a while, has regressed amid talks of a new contact.
A young midfielder ,who we paid handsomely for, running around like a headless chicken.
A lumbering CF whose touch and inability to run in behind slows our game down
No quality DM and no idea of how to stop teams playing through us.

Looks like we've come full circle.
