Swords - "But maybe we're just a game or two from it all coming together and Redknapp turning out to be a wise auld hand after all?" And maybe, if my aunt had a pair of balls she'd be my uncle. I'm afraid that good ol Arry has now done his worst, whilst he is at the helm I'm apathetic to it all.
Never say never Danish - just when you thought it was all bad - in will come SWP with a 12 game run regardless of his form - so that Harry can take a % on the transfer fee bung fiasco - that's how the old timers roll....
Did you see andy garcia's rome playing tonight ? They press 40 meters deeper than we do. This is modern football. Even Cagliari under Zeman (an underrated genius) did it and won 4 - 1 with Inter. We just wait back and hope.
Well said Swordsy. It deserves an honest reply. I don't know if the grass is greener. I suspect it is but then I don't know and I have to say, once again, Queens is right in saying now is not the time. The team deserves our support for a while longer. But I'm glad that even his staunchest supporters are now beginning to wonder if their loyalty in Redknapp was misplaced. A manager who seems to have so little faith in his team is surely only a step or two away from losing their respect and loyalty. Time for a brave decision by Redknapp. We know what it is and in case he doesn't the poll will surely inform him. Even Hughes had the nous and the balls to drop Barton after a run of ever worsening performances. To his credit JB heeded the lesson and his performances and attitude improved significantly until those mad two minutes at the Etihad. At the very least Ferdinand needs to go on the bench next time out. I doubt it will happen but it will be a sign that Harry does notice, does indeed have the authority to make tough decisions and that he does expect more from one of his players - whoever it might be. Telling the players that they are expected to get into the box when we go forward will be another significant step forward. People tell me that Isla is an attacking wing back. Well let's see it then. Has he actually contributed one iota to an attack yet this season? Unleash him.
He's already doing it. If you watch Austin's goal against Southampton you will see Isla make a sprint from the half way line just as Hoilett receives the ball. By the time it reaches Vargas, Isla has overlapped him in the box giving him an extra option and also drawing a defender towards him giving Austin the time and space to swivel and get his shot off to score. We have a very good, hardworking and unselfish player on our hands Yorkie. If you get the chance, watch it back and see how he reads the game and has the intelligence to make that run.
Just on the back of that, i certainly dont agree with everything he's doing and RF should be on the bench at best. Ned should be in from star with Caulker and a few other changes...but...lets give him his chance. If we force him to make changes hen it will give him an easy excuse if he does go. He'l just say he was pressure into players that werent his own choice. Give him enough rope and lets see if he makes a swing or hangs himself
Good post Yorkie but I wouldn't accept that. My loyalty to Redknapp certainly wasn't misplaced last season because he succeeded. But as the old saying goes, a Manager's only as good as his last game and that goes from the bottom right up to the top.
I don't he's clueless at all. The man has earned millions managing football teams while people like Poopster live under the flight path of Dublin Airport!
would I trust HR's opinion or anyone on here...... let me think about that....a man that has managed top level for 30 years or........people on here that haven't..... difficult choice but I'll go with HR in this instance I may not agree with everything that he does but he is on the inside, I am not, so I have no ideas of the problems/decisions he has to make. Maybe he sees something about Ned and Yun that I don't, one thing about HR most of his life is that he can judge a player. He has made more good judgements than bad over his career.
Can he manage ? Yes. Is he better than me as a manager ? Yes. Have we been boring to watch over the last 18 months ? Ps. Exception made for Wembley's game, a once in a lifetime game.
OK so here is the thread killing post. Is Harry Clueless? Well do you know what, I personally haven't a clue....
