  1. I'm not worried about a big amount of money for Enrique, it's who we're going to get for a replacement. If we do let him go it should be for 5 million plus a decent LB. NOT KONCHESKEY!

Arsenal really are in deep ****.

They'll struggle to finish in the top 5 next season.

If this deal goes through, I cant imagine Enrique will be playing for us next season, he seems to be flavour of the month, for any champions league team needing a left back, and hes hardly commited himself to the club!

Adios amigo (if the deals go through if not then Bienvenido etc)

Clichy is massively overrated. Decent going forward, dodgy at defending.

I would take Zhirkov from Chelsea as a replacement, I think he's very good, not really sure why they ever bought him, a little like Fergie in that he can play LM also. If they get Coentra (piss poor spelling attempt) then they'll have 4 Lb's, gotta nick one of theirs !

Would be very happy with Zhirkov if Enrique goes, but if we were after a Chelsea left back I'd be in for Arnold.

Arsenal have got Gibbs, so don't be too sure they will buy a left back, they've lost Silvinho and Ashley Cole and replaced them from within.

Gibbs is very injury prone though.

Wasn't aware of that, still not convinced they'll go for Enrique.

Apparently our asking price for Enrique scared off Liverpool, so surely Arsenal wont dare meet it?

Arsene will have to spend, especially if Nasri goes as well

If Enrique leaves we may be able to replace him with a back-up full back from Nottingham Forest

Pretty sure I read somewhere that even on his current contract Enrique is the second or third highest paid LB in the league so I'm wondering if this is what is putting other teams off. After all the chances are he wants a payrise for moving, but full backs are not usually considered to be high wage priorities. Arsenal out of all the big EPL teams are also probably the most prudent with wages.

I'm hoping that Wenger will go with Gibbs and maybe look to recruit backup from Europe.

I agree with this, also read that about enriques wages which makes you think that this "fantastic" contract he has been offered will not be bettered at another club. This one might run until dead line day.

I think so too. Just hope we don't end up selling him at the last minute as an act of desperation because he still hasn't signed a new contract yet we haven't lined up a replacement. But at the same time I can understand that buying a first team quality left back might give Enrique the incentive to finally leave so I can understand why we might not want to line somebody up before hand. Tricky one this!

Very tricky. We are dammed if we do bring someone in and could be dammed come dead line day if we don't. Definitely one to cause pardew a head ache. Hopefully with pre season training starting next week with the squad back together, Enrique will give pards a decision either way.

You'd hope so wouldn't you. Just need to know where we stand. Surely Enrique has had long enough to decide whether he still wants in and can understand that we need to be able to plan for life without him.
