Absolutely - this Saints team has the ability, and the form, to go to Spurs and win next w/e. We have not played badly in a single game so far this season, even in the 0-0 v WBA it was only our finishing that day that wasnt good enough - whereas Spurs have been very average at best. The bookies odds at the moment must surely be based on historical data only. I am expecting us to win next Sunday.

    Absolutely agree with this.
As has eben said elsewhere, if we are in Europe it means we have had an amazing season, but when we're there send the U21s <laugh>

I'm not so sure about this idea of playing solely youngsters in the Europa League. If we qualify, through a cup win or league position, it will give the board a huge financial bonus with which to strengthen the squad even more. It should also mean that players like Morgan and Jay Rod who were thinking of moving on might just stay after all, as one reason for their leaving will have been satisfied. By all means bring young players on, but we will do that anyway, when they are ready. A nice mix of experience and raring-to-go youth would be ideal. And don't forget that winning the Europa gets you into the qualifiers for the Champions League, so there is every reason to go all-out to win it.

100% agree. It would be plain stupid to just play U21's in the Europa League.

Whilst I understand the apprehension of some on here if we manage a top 6 finish or cup win & thus the Europa League - what if we're top four? Wouldn't you just love CL at St Mary's? (I would) And on present form, it's not impossible. Someone wrote that we can beat anyone except Chelski & Man C - but Man C have had an indifferent start & are very beatable & I trust Ron to set us up to get something from Chelsea. Might have to spend a bit more of that spare cash though ...

Most pundits will say that they love the PL because on any given day one team can beat another. Sometimes I think they mean the Championship, where that is undoubtedly true, but fair enough, they say it. I think they've said it more since this season has started than of any other. We've also heard that it's early in the season, from them more times than I care to remember. Why..? Because they can't really explain why a less glamorous club than the ones they're paid to gush over is comfortably sat in 2nd place, and they are covering their arses. What is odd though is that many of them actually love the present situation, but they're too scared of their reputations being tarnished to actually put anything into words, more than saying amazing, remarkable, incredible, and that's about it. No analysis [tbf, on radio they do gush a bit]. Last season, Alan Shearer finally remembered that he used to be a proud ex-Saint and gushed quite a bit on TV. I'd be interested in what he has to say.

Absolutely. Playing European football is a major draw card the big clubs have when they come knocking for our players.

Other than the first game of the season, which we lost, this is the toughest league fixture so far...

True, when I look at their squad on paper I always get concerned though. Glad football is played on the pitch!

Dont think MP knows his best side. We should win the midfield we just need to keep Adebayor quiet.

Don't forget Garry Monk (academy product) sandwiched in between. Must be some kind of record.
