Seven days until the big event and the weather forecast says that there may be light showers on Wednesday but it will be sunny for the weekend. The market has pretty much taken shape, although what the British bookies offer will not be reflected on the PMU because the French always back the home team, so there is a good chance that Ectot or Avenir Certain will start favourite unless the Japanese show up with lots of Euros for Just A Way. The latest best odds on OddsChecker read like this: 11/2 Taghrooda 13/2 Ectot 7/1 Avenir Certain, Just A Way 8/1 Harp Star 10/1 Treve 11/1 Australia 12/1 Kingston Hill, Free Eagle 14/1 Ivanhowe, The Grey Gatsby 16/1 Gold Ship, Ruler Of The World There are a couple of probable no-shows in those and surely there will be no confidence in Treve as she will not get her ground, whether she retains her ability or not.
With the ground in France looking good for once, are Ballydoyle completely missing a trick with Australia?
The race could really do with him Toppy. It has totally fallen apart. The market favourite sums it up. A horse beaten by Tapestry last time out yet favourite for an Arc
For me I have bet just a way and have done since the demolition job at Meydan I think that last furlong will be desperate but I'm positive he can win. ROTW. At 16s is a good bet but I like Chiquita in there at bigger prices
I'll be backing Tagrooda all week this week, the fact she was coming into season last time out and the fact she would still have won with a better ride makes me think 5/1 - 11/2 is a cracking price. Will also back her on the day on the PMU as I am hoping to be at Longchamp even though it might be a little tight with my flights. On that, anyone that has been how long does it take to get back to Paris and are there buses running straight after the arc has finished?
Morning, Last year we went from Port Maillot metro station (not that far from central Paris on the metro). The bus was about fifteen minutes from there to the course, and were running with good regularity. The buses probably leave throughout the card (it gets quieter after the Arc. I wouldn't recommend leaving until the end though, as its a brilliant card with so many quality races in it. Stands, just go for general admission and enjoy the day with the Japanese and British/Irish contingent. Good views and plenty of space. If you want a seat, go for the expensive tickets, but I don't see the need myself. I am off this weekend too, rather looking forward to it, and like you I think I will be backing Taghrooda on the PMU.
Cheers Nass I fly home on Sunday night at 10:15 on a Ryanair flight so going to be pushed for time as the airport is an hour from Paris so need to leave Paris at 7:15 - I think the Arc is 4:15 local time so doesn't leave me enough time to watch the rest of the card
Yep, sorry I assumed you'd be into CDG cityhull. Should've known Ryanair would kick you out "somewhere close". Thought about hiring a car? Might even work out cheaper than bus and train and will certainly be quicker.
How many people from the board are going? I need to know as I will get a bad price on the PMU if you lot turn up!
