Only saw what was on MOTD but Balotelli seemed to put in a shift today.

Tracked back and won the ball a couple of times, got the ball held it up well. Still obviously doesn't like running into channels and in behind defenders but that's obviously not his natural game and it's going to take more than half a dozen games before he gets used to doing that.

Hopefully when Sturridge comes back he can do that and help create the space for Balotelli to drop deep and pick the ball up in the space behind midfield and defence.

I think we need to wait until we have Sturridge/Balo/Sterling as a 3 together (like Spurs) before we really judge our attacking ability. I think those 3 suit each other well and all bring something different and hopefully get a decent run of games and work on an understanding.

Lallana seemed to have a good game to follow up from midweek, just be intereting to see what happens when Sturridge come back and if Lallana drops back into a midfield 3 with Hendo and Gerrard.

Only cause Tim Howard's gigantic head got a lucky touch on his shot. A save the keeper knows nothing about until they get up off the floor.

  4. Amazing how good a player can look on MOTD <laugh>

Think he hit double figures in shots too, not many hit the target though.

Watched whole game and ballotelli had his moments but rarely looked like scoring. Trouble is we have lost 2 players who scored over half our goals last season and, although Sturridge is still with us, how do you expect us to bring in players who will instantly resolve that problem. We needed a proven striker in the transfer window but couldn't get one. Balottelli is not an expensive risk and will score more once studge is back.
We deserved 3 points yesterday but you can't help it when a strike like that goes in. He'll never do it again it just had to be against us!

I watched most of the game and was surprised at how awful Liverpool were compared to last season. None of the players Rodgers signed seemed to have improved the team. Dreadful management. He's been found out.

Whereas LVG has taken man yoo to 1 point ahead of Rodgers team and got knocked out of the League Cup by the mighty MK Dons and not had the extra burden of Champion League to contend with.

LVG and his Gaalacticos have been found out.<laugh>

Fair point. LVG is still struggling to adjust to English football. What's Rodger's excuse other than not being able to shout "give it to Suarez" from the touch line? Dare to dream?

    ^ this.

I called him out ages ago and was lambasted for it on here. Last season was all about the brilliance of Suarez in combination with a great side kick in Sturridge.

Post his departure he's spent £117m and taken the team backwards.

His fabled coaching expertise that has been the supposed making of Henderson and Coutinho, (his own proclamation mind), has been significant in its absence when it comes to Assaidi, Suso, Sakho, Allen, Aspas, Borini, Agger, Lucas, Sahin, et al. He's full of ****

One point above a team who finished second last season and are on the up.

Its funny just how quiet this board goes after a defeat. Certain threads are ignored quite often and the board grinds to a halt.

    Wonder why....

Perhaps that his main strikeforce, the top scorers in the league last year with 50 combined, are no more? Sturridge is injured and Suarez has gone.

Coupled with the fact that 3 of the back 4 are brand new signings and Balotelli, Markovich, and Lallana have all gone straight into the starting 11. It's not acceptable, but the "he's been found out" comments (particularly by Tobes) are cringing at this stage of the season. It's clear to all who can see that we're not performing because the players need to gel, rather than any shortcomings in Rodgers overall philosophy.
