Parades, Tamas, Gomez, Dyer, Ighalo and Andrews are the new faces. So for those who go to games, what do you make of them?
Well Parades and Gomes have done ok but made the odd mistake or two. Tamas didn't have a great time of it and now injured ofcourse. I think Dyer has been ok when played. Not really seen enough of Andrews or Ighalo.
All appear quite good when they have played; except Gabriel Tamaş who is living a nightmare with his contribution so far. Lloyd Dyer needs to wind his neck in from some of the quotes about his self opinion. This is with no actual view of the men playing, but from what I read.
Parades - Has looked good when I've seen him. Made a real difference when he came at Charlton. 6/10 Tamas - Oh dear. Penalties, own goals. Looked a disaster waiting to happen before he went off. 3/10 Gomez - Thought he did well early on, but then suddenly started dropping clangers. Makes me nervous. 5/10 Dyer - People seemed to think he was unlucky to be subbed last week. Not me. Drop the strop and show us what you can do. 4/10 Ighalo - Oh dear. Not seen a lot of him, but looks out of his depth to me. 3/10 Andrews - Solid. A more than capable squad player. 6.5/10 What do others think?
Cheers guys, good to know. Yes, it is still early daysish but enough to get a rough opinion. Much obliged, hopefully more comments to come.
I would rate them as follows Paredes 7.5 He was outstanding today and has shown why he is a world class player. Solid and very technically gifted. Andrews 6 Reasonable player, not set my world alight, but capable as a stand in. Tamas 4.5 I cannot blame him for the own goal. It was not a stupid mistake, it was simply bad luck. The penalties have been clumsy, but he isnt all bad. Dyer 6 Petulant and then seems ineffective when he does play. Tries too much rather than keeping it simple and doing what he does best. Running at the defence and crossing the ball. Ighalo 6.5 Very good with his feet and a tricky striker who can offer a different option to MV/FF Gomes 6.5 Capable shot stopper and commanding. His positioning lets him down though. As suspected, Manuel's replacement is Manuel.
Paredes is class. He's quick and decisive and tricky and strong but sometimes he loses the ball too easily. Tamas has disappointed. I thought he was going to be good for us but he's a liability. Dyer is also yet to prove the hype. He's quick but only physically, he doesn't seem to read the game well. Gets caught offside a lot! Ighalo is awful. Tbh I'd be happy if he didn't play again. Clueless. However, one goal might give him the confidence to kick on. He's losing the crowd though which won't help. Andrews had a slow start but has begun to come into his own. Solid. Munari was without a doubt or best midfielder yesterday and impresses every game. Despite his age he's quick and imaginative. Gomes is a strange one. He gets found out a lot with this whole 'we can lob Gomes' thing but he's an excellent keeper who let's the team know exactly what he needs from them! It was a little strange that defenders kept the ball from getting to him yesterday when they should obviously been a keeper's ball though.. Perhaps they don't trust him so much? Or maybe he didn't call enough.
Can we add Billy McKinlay to this list - newly appointed as first team coach, could he be what we need ? And does his appointment reflect a slight change in the Pozzo's ideas of what is needed at the club ?
