I didn't see the game, but it appears that we again looked more threatening once that Hoilett was introduced. (Just saying )
Only saw the second half but quite a lot of positives. We seem to be much more fluid in midfield, passing quickly and overlapping. Fer and Krancjar always wanting to go forward. Far more width, which helped create more space. That lends itself to the more creative players being able to slide telling passes into(for once) more willing runners. Far too pedestrian in pace and passing previously. Although we lost, we might have got something outta that if they'd played that way from the start. Harold, a quick thought. Analyse that second half and make sure that tempo is played in all our first halves. I just feel we are always playing catch up in the game with second half performances always better than the first halves. We will not stay up unless we commit to pace, width and quicker passing in both halves. Now, it must be nearly drink O' clock. Nice!
!st half we just absorbed them ...2nd half was much better with Holliet then we looked like a team !! Harold take note !!
After 2 away games with no performance and a brutal result, that was much better. We showed we can both hang in there and try to get at teams. There was a decent balance and fluidity in the team in the second half.
Or maybe it's down to Hoilett and not Redknapp why he isn't starting games.? (Just saying ) If you don't apply yourself week in week out in training you don't start, simple. And something I'm 100% certain of is that Harry has a better basis of making that decission than any on here.
Correct. He just gets on the ball and runs and you know nothing will come out of it even if he runs into the box because he never does anything with it. Always makes the wrong decision and always loses the ball. He's like a motivated W-Phillips. Try's but hasn't got much upstairs. Hes very frustrating because you know he has the skill in him but its no use when he can't conjure it up to produce any kind of decent end product. Players like him and Taarabt drive me absolutely potty!
Enough playing well (if) from second half. Enough obvious subs. Enough hoping to get a point away from home. Enough lack of pace and waiting deep in our half. Bar a decent start of season last year what positives did you see in the way we play ?
Just watched post match interview. He does not like losing and that is good news. However, the table does not lie - we are one win away from 12th! Nice to see the board not in meltdown for a change!
Hoilett and Phillips are similar in that they come off the bench, look lively and you think yep he definitely has to start next game - they get picked, we all say good and then they proceed to be absolute pony, get substituted and it all starts again....i actually thought hoilett did ok today....maybe he should play next week?
He is frustrating, but he rarely plays on the right. When he did, he fought for the ball beat a couple of players, cut the ball back and OBZ scored the goal which gave the club a minimum £70m. Like Col I think he's better than Phillips, but both are confidence players and need a run in the team to find form. Didn't see todays game, but if the performance was better, good. We need some points soonish though.
He did well that day Stan and I do like him. His worst position is on the right though IMO. He's not a winger really for a start. He'd best be deployed centrally. But if you are putting him on the flank he's got to go on the left for me. Any time I've seen him play well is when he was down the left because he's completely right footed.
I thought he played centrally during our apparently useless pre season and did well. If he plays on the right he has to cross, if he plays on the left he'll cut in and shoot/pass. Either way who cares if it results in goals. I thought he looked great at Blackburn 3 seasons ago. What do we do to these players? Just seen Charlie's goal. Outstanding, I was having my doubts about him last week.
He can't cross though mate. Its not in him. He comes inside every time so at least when he's wide left the ball is on his strong side when he does cut in. Problem is, he can't really shoot anyway Its the Rangers curse. They arrive as good players and then immediately go to sh*t
I'd go with this personally. I feel like Vargas is wasted on the wing. He is very good for Chile as a striker. I don't rate Hoilett or Phillips, so neither get in the side. Green Caulker Ferdinand Onuoha Isla Fer Barton Traore Kranjcar Austin Vargas Kranjcar was your best player today. Austin's goal was brilliant, that's why I came to your forum to post a link to it. It took me a while to find after getting back from the game. https://vine.co/v/OZgjbQIz9UJ
