3.15 Newmarket - Outstrip 7/1 ew First of all am backing against Captain Cat for the 1st time this season, also I am chickening out a little bit by going ew on him; The applby stable is bang in form. Outstrip was very impressive at Santa Anita last yr seemed to have a great turn of foot. Was very disappointing in the Guineas but the price said it all that day!! His performance behind Kingman was the stand out performance IMO and has the strongest form of the whole field and if he can reproduce any of that he will be very hard to beat
Europe to finish ahead of the yanks on all three days 13/2.PP went evens today on europe victory so was on quick smart
Very tricky race with improvers Wannabe Yours, Captain Cat, Custom Cut, and Group 1 performer Tulius to contend with. On his best form though He is above these so it's whether he can produce his best form and how fast are the others improving. Too tricky for me but good luck Wooly. I wonder if Criteria can come good at last. He's cost me before.
Tempted to take Belle D'or and Provenance against the field in the 13.40 Newmarket, 12/5 and 11/4 respectively
Gm Hopkins 6-1 Nkt 5.00 is very progressive and only going to get better over further. Can win again tomorrow!
405 Haydock looks a very tight race but berlusca could step up to the mark and its intresting to see O'meara placing Nolan onboard 9s available so ew friendly
Gordon Elliott's horses have been running like they've rockets up their asses for months now and I'd be surprised should The Unsub not win the 3.05 at Downpatrick tomorrow. Run a stormer just behind Alan Kings best bumper horse Miles to Memphis at Ayr when last seen. Could well be a silly price but anything around 7/4 would be very decent. EDIT: Hope you filled your bets at the Evens on Europe Ste, that looks an incredible price. The best thing for Team Europe is that Horschel isn't in the USA team! He was machine like in the deciding Fed-Ex tournaments!
Well feck me sideways, I've been locked out of here for a long time, Been forced to lurk as a Guest. Nice to be back. I like Ze King in the first at Haydock tomorrow. Progressive horse beat him last time, not sure there are too many of those in this race. Good luck to the lot of you!
Having seen the betting forecast for the first at Newmarket, I think it is inconceivable that Belle D’Or will not start a shorter priced favourite than is stated. She has had a long layoff but has the form in the book to which her opponents aspire. Whilst Criteria has been taking on better opposition before, she does not look worth following in the second as a likely favourite. The Rockfel Stakes looks like a race to watch with the notebook out rather than a betting proposition, so I will gloss over that to the Joel Stakes where I think that Captain Cat may be up to the step up in class against better opposition that he faced last time. The Silver Cambridgeshire might be worth watching with a view to Saturday but nothing else.
The Princess Royal Stakes (formerly known as the Harvest Stakes [but run at Ascot] although I'm bloody certain formerly known as the Princess Royal Stakes before that !! [run at Ascot]) has that end of the season look with lots of fillies scrambling around for a bit of black type. Long View should get placed in this company and comes from a family that can show rapid improvement. Wouldn't be surprised if Moore also gets Micras to run for him. She showed much improved form when fitted with a visor and maybe the trick will work again in the Whip. Is there really no prize money for this? I know it used be £100 or so some time ago, but then it was a level weights match between Jockey Club owned horses.
Morning All. Today's lucky 15. All @ Newmarket. 1-40.Belle D'or. 2-10.Criteria. 2-40.New Providence. 3-15.Wannabe Yours. (Nap) Good luck to all.
QuarterMoonII: I see what you mean about the 1.40 at Newmarket, and you may well be right about the likely movement in the market, but I'm not sure I agree with the general sentiment. Belle d'Or certainly has a higher OR than Provenance (104-98) but Timeform only splits them by a couple of pounds, and Provenance put up a very respectable time figure in her Sandown race. I'm also not convinced that Belle d'Or is an easy ride - she seems to need her mind made up for her, and I wonder if Buick's the man to do it. In fact, over the straight Rowley Mile, I believe that Moore's worth a length over Buick anyway - it's a track where it's VERY hard to make your move at the right time, from the right place, and still keep an awkward horse balanced coming out of the Dip. When you factor in that BD only beat Wee Jean a nose at Sandown, and Moore's already ridden Wee Jean (in the Oak Tree at Goodwood); and that Provenance has beaten Mezel (who was with Stoute throughout 2013) my firm impression is that Highclere think they know where they stand with Belle D'or. I wouldn't argue this too hard, but it does seem that a lot of Galileo fillies only really come to themselves in the second half of their 3yo season, and I think that Provenance is improving the quicker of the two (and the hood seems to have worked wonders). I'll be backing Provenance (not too violently, because I decided years ago that betting on 3yo fillies below Group 1 and 2 level was an expensive hobby), and I'm guessing that the market will agree with me. But if I'm wrong, I hope BD wins for you.
Probably the worst thing ive seen this season, was Haggas running Etaab in that bog at Newmarket last time, I had backed her in the morning when the ground was decent and there was a torrential downpour, went from like 11/4 out to 13/2 and any price you want on betfair. Was just waiting for it to become a non runner yet he still ran it because Hamdan was at the track to see her. Anyone who backed her that day got robbed and hopefully they all got their money back and more today.
AP McCoy gets a quick fire double at Worcester to move to 138 for the season, including a rare winner for Shark Hanlon. 2 more rides to come today.
Loving the Lope De Vegas, they seem to be able to sit handy and quicken, wont be surprised if he has a serious classic contender next season.
