Not quoting 3 posts. If there were a poll now it would be yes imo. However, I thought you'd noticed a decision has been made. That won't be changed. There would be zero point in a poll. It's over. According to our Dr Allam supporting chums in CTWD. Well apart from their chairman obviously who thinks Dr A is a ****. Obviously not the chairman's mates either. Anyhoo, it's over. Why keep dragging it up. The HDM wouldn't print it if noone read it. Plus, ofc, you're all much better fans than the idiots who read the local papers, listen to local radio etc ain't ya?
A confusing reply. A poll asking Hull City or Hull Tigers - which do you think would win? It was you who brought up the poll issue. A decision has indeed been made. The FA said no. If you don't want people dragging it all up again, write to your friend at the KC. He seems to want the issue to be kept alive. If you are fed up of it all, I would suggest you don't keep up the debate by adding to these threads.
I've just been and bought the paper(which is probably the reason they published this bollocks in the first place) and there are actually only two letters, one from Alan Hutchinson of Willerby and one from Joey Sheedy, a 'Hull (Tigers) supporter', though they do take up almost a full page. Both are idiots and to be fair to the HDM, the responses from Gareth Westmorland do question them, suggesting that the new signatures could propel City far further than a Tiger could. They make the usual stupid statements about CTWD not deserving an opinion unless they've got £100m, the article is even headed "Would 'CTWD' finance Tigers?", which, ignoring the fact that it's grammatically appalling, is a stupid assertion. Fans do not have to own a football club to voice their opinion on what it's doing. Alan Hutchinson, who apparently 'rarely misses a home game'(presumably can't be arsed with the away ones), calls those who chant 'morons' and suggests that they're going to make us the next Portsmouth(apparently, City Till I Die is a vile and disgusting chant). He goes on to say that he thinks the Court Of Arbitration For Sport will probably overturn the FA decision, which would be a surprise, as we haven't filed an appeal with CAS and even if we did, they couldn't overturn it, they could only make the process start again. Joey is even more stupid, he suggests that not changing the name will result in us 'going back to the conference', which would be interesting, as I don't actually remember the last time we were there. I think posting letters from people who self evidently don't know what they're talking about and are as thick as two short planks, does the Allam's case no good at all.
So they sold at least 1 more copy of the HDM then Local newspapers are dying out I think they just want to sell a few more
In the interest of balance, I should probably point out that the HDM dedicated more space to some bird off the Great British Bake Off meeting Huddlestone, Brady and Maguire.
Circulation figures July to December 2009 around 47,000. January to June 2012 averaged 41,222 or 39,038 depending on which website you visit. Figures for second half of 2013 show a drop to 36,028.
Wonderful, if they're as pathetic as these two screams I say keep printing them another reason why the silent majority should stay that way! I'd like "Joey" to meet Warren Joyce.. if he's heard of him..
All you every hear or see is Anti Hull Tigers and rarely is there ever any coverage of the other side of the story. Possibly they are just highlighting two sides to the story. Also covering a pro Hull Tigers angle is going to cause controversy and get people buying the paper or going on the website. I personally don't want to be called Hull Tigers and I also don't want stories that could have a negative impact on they team being ran the same day as a match.
