Pompey fan in peace. Against Stoke you had 16.163 attend the game in the EPL, whilst my team Portsmouth had a crowd of 16,171 watching a match against Wycombe some 3 divisions lower. Are your supporters losing faith in your team and Arry?
Your fans are less fickle and your club has more logic when it comes to ticket prices, family enclosures etc etc. What is capacity these days at FP?
Portsmouth v Wycombe might have been different if they had been the early game on live TV. (Something that will not happen again for a long time for Portsmouth of Wycombe.)
If you phrase it as a little under 90% full then it gives a different impression. The factors mentioned above will also play a part. I think the Singing Blue is just proud of their attendance rather than anything else.
All cool mate, look at our attendances when we were in the third tier, they were pretty comparable with yours SB, as Croydon says 'no glory hunters here'.
The last time Portsmouth played Stoke City in the Premier League at Fratton Park the attendance was... 17,208 You are yet another Pompey fan taken in by the myths of the self proclaimed "bestest fans in the world". Pompey didn't always sell out a 20k stadium in the Premier League which is pretty poor given what Pompey fans like to think about their support and the media myths that have built up around them. Say Pompey's fan base is great and loyal enough times and people appear to believe it even when the evidence goes against it. Have you also considered Pompey's game vs Wycombe on Saturday had significantly cheaper tickets than QPR vs Stoke? Pompey are meant to be in a new glorious era of fan ownership, shouldn't you be selling out a 20k stadium even in the 4th tier if reports of you're glorious fan base were true?
You'd have to be especially sadistic to support QPR for the glory...we're more likely to attract misery hunters - surprised we don't have more Goths supporting us.
There's some trouble between the Club and fans in the main stand (The Loft) so that might have something to do with it. Also it was on TV so that may have affected it too
Its just over 20k but we have had crowds against other L2 sides where we have had over 18k in and given some of these sides only have about 200 travelling supporters they dont really boost the overall crowd. Also, it has a downside as most sides that visit us dont play in front of a big croud , so they play up a bit, its like their Wembley appearance for the season which really does not help us. Big away support does however help us.
You're still peddling that line?
