Just in. Good win against a decent Everton. the difference tonight was Jonjo turned up and played well. No need for new left back ... Montero was very good! The back five kept their shape well and we took the chances that presented themselves. In fairness Taylor had a decent game by his standard, best of the season, but still some way off good enough. Gomis hasn't clicked with the system yet. Ash had another excellent game. Jazz played the ball on the floor (like the old days) and did everything well - slightly over-run towards the end when Everton concentrated their attacks on their left. Montero was forceful and went looking for the ball, Dyer brilliant until he was fouled out of the game - took his goal well. Ash and Fernadez starting to look good together. Carroll started well but faded but played some excellent passes. Siggy had another below par performances but was alert to score from the rebound. Special mention for Tremmell who was alive to everything. Monk got the subs right tonight Ki realigned a flagging midfield, Emnes gave presence and scored Routs didn't do anything wrong but didn't add much. Gerry - 9 Jazz - 8 Fernandez -7 Ash - 8.5 Taylor - 6.5 Carroll - 6 Dyer - 8 Siggy - 7 Shelvey - 8 Montero - 8 Gomis - 5 Ki - 7 Emnes - 7.5 Routs - 6
No. I want to see your 500 word essay after todays fine victory......that you watched on the radio......
One of them on talksport said how disappointed he would be if Shelvey wasn't in the next England squad. I haven't been able to watch many of the games this year, but Shelvey has been slated on here recently. What's the deal, was he that good tonight.
He was better than he usually is, and had some consistency with his passing for once, though he still gave the ball away a couple of times as did Taylor, but overall a very good team performance, that tells me Monk has us back on track, with some very solid movement all over the pitch, glad to see Jazz having a game, I've always said he could make the step up, and Emnes again makes a great impact as a sub!..............
I want to see you make a twat of yourself for my amusement, oh wait... Can you keep this up for 3 days though? That takes stamina that does. Are you ****ing Monk or what?
Jazz was very good, as he was v Rotherham, passing accurate and often adventurous while keeping the ball on the floor, tackled well, good position ally, decent heading, a bit more adventurous in attack. A few passes didn't reach the target but I thought it was down to players not reading each other having not played together very often. Not up to Rangel's standard for me (yet) but certainly a good back up and better than Taylor.
Excellent performance tonight - was sat in the lower South stand for a change (like to try different parts of the stadium for cup games) but on hindsight would have preferred my ST seat in the East! Everton were the better team for the first 20 minutes or so but we slowly started to dominate after that and ended up winning in confident fashion! Thought everyone played well and Tayls had his best game so far this season (but still needs to improve). Think a 5 for Gomis was a bit harsh Bob, he held up play quite well and looked a handful at times, but agree with the rest of your post - that is the beauty of forums like this - everyone sees something different! But we were good value for the victory and took the goals really well - Dyer's was a great finish, Gylfi's a classic poachers goal, and Emnes' was beautifully created and taken! No real minuses from that showing and a very enjoyable match - although being in the South stand had to watch my language because of all the kiddies around us! Think the East is where I belong - had to bite my tongue quite a bit But a fantastic riposte to back to back defeats and hopefully will give us confidence going to Sunderland on the weekend! Am loving this season so far - long may it continue!!!!!
On the Saints match thread I was discussing the game with others and you came on to tell me I was being pathetic. You claimed that it was pointless starting your own thread as I had previously diverted them with my "whingeing"....you can't provide any evidence of this can you? You wrecked that thread. That was genuinely pathetic. Tonight on this match thread we were all discussing the game. I had written lots of praise of our performance....and you came on here with the intention of starting an argument didn't you. You are now wrecking a second thread. I think anyone who bothers to read this bollocks can see exactly who the filth is and what you are all about. Now f** off PGF there's a good boy.
Dont you have somewhere to be whitey.... Monk wants back into Eurooe , the old dog .PS you keep writing them terror, ill keep reading them with gratitude .
Oh well if you don't want to get on, then fire away, I'll come back when you've finished girls!.................
Which part of "the game was great" don't you understand. The only pathetic ranting is coming from you, except it's not so much of a rant and more of a whining whimper. And ... the only thing plastic around here is that little lump three feet above your arse parked midway between your ears. Go scratch it, maybe it lights up!
Well I have to say PGF that you must be looking at a different forum because even those who had serious doubts about Monk, me included, have universally praised him when he's got it right this season. He's got a few things wrong too mind, like the last game. But that's to be expected. I think most fans generally and on this forum have been prepared to admit when they're wrong, and right now it looks as though we may have been. So what's your beef? Seems to me that you have some sort of interest in another forum and only come here to stir things up by making comments calculated to provoke. You're not alone as others like to do that too but it's a shame you feel the need to do that. Great performance tonight. Top marks all round. Everything clicked and Monk got his team selection right and tactics as well. Montero mom for me and was unplayable at times. Gomis has the skill but will take time to bed in imo (remember Bony when he started?) All looking good right now.
He finally showed last night that he can make the grade at PL. Maybe that's why we never signed another left back. All of a sudden now with Jazz and Tiendalli, our defensive options are pretty strong.
Come on PGF, Terror and others have criticised Monk when they've felt it justified but have also praised him when deserved too We've finally beaten Everton, we should be happy
