http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/alan-pardew-career-win-record-vs-19-premier-league-managers/ Im not the biggest pardew fan but id sooner the protest and boo boys supported the club than pards to get the boot. Good to see hes got a decent win % compared to other managers baring in mind we continually sell our good players and buy unproven players on the cheap
Never thought I'd see the day, when The Mag had a pro-Pardew article of sorts. They say statistics never lie, maybe so, but in this case the writer is stretching reality to the limits.
Is there an award for this The Sh*t Play Award and do we get a place in Europe or just the Coca Cola Championship. Just as players should be judged on current form so should managers and ours isn't currently doing very well.
So Alan is fantastic afterall? I saw he had a better win ratio than Hughton, KK (2nd spell), Kinnear. Pardew in.
Yeh fair enough. Its a massive poin and shocking for a club like ours. Although the statement on its own doesnt take into consideration that it includes post january to end of season ( best players sold, top 10 already guarenteed pracically, nothing to play for, donkey striker signed L.de jong etc ) The start of the season hasnt been great but pardews proven he can win in the premier league with a decent squad. Other managers coming in could be even more of a risk
Mate if he isn't gone by the Liverpool game we will be in real trouble. If Ashley then gives him more time the pressure on the team to pick up results against apparent 'easier' teams in November will be unbelievable. The December period looks vile and if he is here by then we could be well cut adrift and even strong reinforcements in January or/and a new manager may not be enough to save us. Alot of maybes in there but I can certaintly see that happening.
Im just reluctant to think after 5 games its as bad as the pardewout protestors are making out. We could of easily nicked a win vs palace at home and could have / should have nicked a win at villa where we played fine. I know we didnt amd thats fact but its only the southampton defeat thats really indicated we could be in any trouble for the season but when have we ever played well at southampton.
This goes back alot further than 5 games mate. We have been wretched for months we no real sign of improvement.
I would respectfully suggest; a. Pardew is a limited manager; b. Pardew has a higher win ration over his career than the average premier league manager, and has achieved this with three mediocre clubs c. Pardew is therefore not by any means the worst manager going; d. If we do not change managers, we will not do very well this season. We could do very badly though I personally doubt we will continue as poorly as we have started. e. If we sack Pardew, very few good managers will be interested in replacing him. f. The chances of any new manager that is willing to take the position being better than Pardew are not particularly good g. We should therefore only sack Pardew if we have identified a replacement who is both (at least potentially) better and who is willing to accept the job. I would like better than Pardew as well. We shouldn't start the "Pardew Out" chants, though, until we have figured out the words to the "_______ In" chants.
Agreed mate. I'm not sure what happened with some people after southampton, we went from people agreeing that it would be difficult with all these new players, to giving pardew ten games and the players time to bed in etc ..to then losing a game most of us probably expected to lose (and I also don't recall us ever doing anything at all at southampton, quite the opposite) and people start losing their mind..declaring all our new players dreadful and demanding instant change. Of course the manner of the defeat was disgusting and we have been dire for ages but I don't even think we can afford to not give pardew time..he may well just keep us up and may be keeping an even worse option from the door. There have been some positives this season..admittedly positives tempered by the reality that we are going nowhere and completely ambitionleSs..but we've kept posession well, moved forward well at times..jaanmaat is good..cabella shows promise, colback..is ok
Fredd maybe we should start a website HiresomeonebetterthanPardew.com and start collecting money! We will need lots though because the posters will have to be at least A0 size
I'd be up for supporting this. I don't have much money myself though so I'd like to nominate JPF to donate on my behalf.
