Fair enough. Will be good to see how Ospina does. I'm surprised you guys are risking Chambers though, your back line would struggle with another injury methinks and you guys got your derby on after this so you would want him fit and ready.

How are you all feeling about Chambers? Happy for him? He was a young player so maybe it doesn't matter much to you?

I imagine he has had more game time than you all thought he'd get at Arsenal and it looks like he is set to continue to deputise for debuchy in the first team for the next few months.

He looks like a very talented young player to me. I've been very impressed with him since he signed for us. He will do really well at Arsenal I'm sure. He has the odd rush of blood to the head and goes to ground before he should but he will learn to cut that out unless he is going to take the player as well!

Really pleased to have him at Arsenal :)

The choice is either Chambers, one of our first choice CB pairing or a youth player who isn't ready to make the step up yet. Hayden has been on the edge of the squad and waiting for his chance but we don't have another young CB who is as developed yet.

Which means chambers is the obvious choice. He's young enough to play multiple games in a row without fatigue kicking in and should the worst happen (it bloody well better not!) and he got injured then bellerin would have to step in at RB until a couple of our injuries to defenders clear up.

    Diaby is basically Wanyama-lite.

A fit diaby is one of the best CMs in the league. He's just injured all the time! As soon as he is fit he gets called straight back into the France team and into our team. If he could get over his injury problems he could really show what he is capable of. It's a shame he never stays injury free for long enough for others to notice how good he is.

Yes should be a good contest. I'm backing Vic to win by a knockout.

I personally am neutral to him. He has talent but wasent around long or often enough to have made a lasting impact. However unlike Lovren and Lallana he didnt make a huge scene about leaving so i don't dislike him at all.

He was a talented lad but was struggling to find a starting place for us so his move to your mob made perfect sense for him, not to mention we wrangled a more than fair price for him. I wish him well...if nothing else he'll be yet more advertising for the saints academy no matter were he goes.

Yeah he seemed to leave in a rather low key way and we paid a good price for him. I was curious as some seemed to think it was a bad move for him and he wouldn't get game time at Arsenal but so far he is flourishing.

Agreed. We got a great fee for a player who hasnt even completed a full seasons matches. Great potential but we have others waiting on the production line.

Of all the players who left in the summer, I was most sorry to see him go. I notice that Wenger's tendency to play people out of their familiar position seems to have actually worked for Chambers.

Been a bit disappointed by both Walcott and Chamberlain since they went to you. Neither have quite fulfilled their potential yet imo; and why are Arsenal players always injured?

Don't wish Chambers ill...he's only a lad. Still proud that he's an academy boy. Only reason that I'm mildly pleased about Shaw's discomfort is that he plays for United...would never wish good on United. But he's a kid too, so don't like to see him sad :( At least Chambers gets to smile.

    Head-to-head

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 10 matches against Southampton in all competitions (W6, D4) since losing 3-2 at St Mary's in the Premier League in November 2002.
This is the fifth time the sides have been paired together in the League Cup. Arsenal advanced on all four previous occasions.

    Arsenal

The Gunners' last domestic defeat at the Emirates was their 2-0 loss to Chelsea in the fourth round of last season's League Cup.
Arsenal have won nine of their last 11 home League Cup ties, scoring 29 times, with their only defeats coming against Manchester City in 2011-12 and Chelsea in 2013-14.
They have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last nine matches in this competition, a sequence that began with defeat to Birmingham in the 2010-11 final.
The last time Arsenal failed to advance to the fourth round of this competition was in 2002-03, when they were eliminated by Sunderland.

    Gulp...

I have no idea why they are always injured! It does my head in! We have to compete with multiple injuries at the same time, usually to one area of our team, every bloody season! We've signed the German medical guy now though to try and improve our injury situation going forward. So hopefully we will see less injuries or injuries lasting for less time.

And yeah chambers has really done well at CB, he looks a natural.

As for oxocube and Walcott. Walcott is one of the best wing forwards in the league. Last season he spent most of it out injured but contributed to like 7 goals in 7 appearances when he did get some games together. He was fantastic for us before getting his injury that kept him out for 6 months. And the season before that he basically had almost the same stats as Bale. He was outstanding.

He has reached the point of being a 20+ goals a season wing forward whilst getting plenty of assists. He is one of our most important players and we really missed him last season when he was out. He's done really well for us and over the last couple of seasons really matured into the player we want him to be. He has shaken the arsenal fans who criticised him and looks to be exactly where you'd want him to be.... No idea why saints fans think Walcott isn't fulfilling his potential. Sure he hasn't hit Thierry Henry levels but he's had better stats for his position than almost anyone for the last few seasons.

Oxocube has been very hit and miss. He starts to look the real deal and then looks like he can't get anything to work for him. He hasn't managed to hold down a first team place as well as Walcott but he seems to be improving at the moment. He is still very young and e next couple of seasons will be important for him.

You know the saying. 'Records are made to be Brokoeman'.

I do feel sorry for the gunners when i hear of the injuries piling up...happens like clockwork and always seems happen just in time to prevent them from getting decent bite of the EPL/Cup cherry.
