No width!!! but plays two wide men and no one who can tackle away a UTD?!! Never mind, Come on u RrrrrrrS........
The one thing Redknapp is better at than many others is that he does eventually see the light. Unfortunately he sometimes leaves it rather late to make the correction. I doubt whether Rio will be given many more chances to show us he can sill cope at this level.
Sadly, Rio signed on the promise of first team football and he's a "good lad" as well so I think he'll be in the team for a while.
I actually think that Rio should be dropped but still believe that he has a lot to offer. I think he's got to get his head around playing in a totally different, new team. He'd been at MU for so long.
What's the opposite of having someone in your pocket? Crouch absolutely had Rio on toast. To be honest, Caulker's not been much cop so far either; we look weak at CB. Our defence is all at sea at the moment. Onouha + Simpson looked like they could make the step up last season, so for the sake of continuity we should've built around them
I still think Caulker and Onouha would be fine as Ned has the pace to make up for his or others' mistakes which RF clearly hasn't. No challenge for Mata or Crouch's goals is not something you expect of a centre back. Even in the conference.
Hill is the only viable alternative in terms of leadership. Lacks in composure and technique bu makes up for it in commitment and being a Southpaw. I want to see Ned included (especially since he seemed the most consistent and imposing defender at the back end of last season), but I think he should get the RB spot for a few games while Isla picks up some confidence and familiarity with the English game in the ressers.
Problem is Rio was totally Harry's idea and TF was definitely not convinced, therefore Rio is unlikely to be dropped.Like the idea of giving Ned another whirl at RB, however would prefer him to replace Rio(or Caulker for that matter)
Matt, Onuoha is a very good center-half but he's no right back. Anytime he's played out there he's been murdered.
Ned is as least as good a RB defensively as he is a CB IMO. Don't recall him getting mugged there let only "murdered". His problem there is often he gets lost coming forward. Think he is probably a better RB than Simpson and until Isla learns the defensive part of that position better than he does now, it would be a good shout to play him there. Doesn't solve the CB problem though so maybe Arry has to stick with Isla and hope he learns fast and replace Rio with Ned. I think Clint would do a better job there than Rio too, but if Arry really think Rio is Beckenbauer...
Defence talk is all well nd good - but for me the main point is the other end - Strikers - Fact goals win games.............. the defence is improving but to aid and assist them is to play a more attacking game - helping relieve pressure on them......... We often play too deep and well look at the Man U game............. Leicester went at them and had a go why didn't we ?? In essence we are short up front and in time and over the season this will cost us................ So to sum up defence slowy improving (slowly) but attack and tactics - will cost us in the long run... Hull at home points - 0 Sunderland at home points -3 (via an own goal) Stoke at home points - 1 (lack of strikers.....) sorry chaps - rant over I've been going to LR since 1975 and my first game was Stoke at home (a 3-2 win) We need find some flare up front soon and at least have a proper go at teams before we fall behind in a game.............
