Morrison's sell the fish and chips snacks as I saw them yesterday ! The original Atari game was down stairs in high street west I think, where the snooker club is/was, I used to walk through the arcade first then turn left. We had the tennis t v game in the 1970's, never played ker plunk, but buckaroo, ludo, monopoly, bar football and clackers were popular. I used to get clipped of me ma for licking a battery if caught. We used to tie some thread round a door knocker and hide then pull the thread then run away. Curly wurly, marathons, sherbet fountains were my favourite sweets, that's how I lost a load of teeth!
I still have that Atari console in the loft with a Spectrum a Comm 64 and few flavours of Amiga 500s and 1200s including a1200 that I built into a PC tower with a 12 Gb Hard drive that cost me over £300 lmao. Also had a Spaceinvaders table that I used as a coffee table. ( Wish I had kept it when it stopped working, they are worth a mint now.) Still got a portable stereo 8 Track player with a selection of classic tapes Floyd and The Who etc. Oh and I still call fecking Snickers a Marathon.
I've still got a fair few original Star Wars toys that I was given as a child, I hated Star Wars so didn't ever want to play with them so they got shoved in a box, apparently they're worth a mint, so my mrs has had them insured at a cost of £19 a month on the contents insurance... they probably didn't even cost that to begin with!
was at a toy fair yesterday in Bolton(long story) and saw the Atari on sale on a stall, when I mentioned to my son that it was my first console he all but fell on the floor laughing! Kids today eh with his PS4 etc......
Old consoles are nostalgic but that's exactly where they need to stay, in the past. I bought a Super Nintendo a couple of years ago with about 80 games, what a tremendous pile of **** it was. There's no fun to be had in revisiting this sort of ****, I played Fifa 97 on the SNES, I can't even begin to say how crap it was.

Best investment out there at the moment. Even Mega drives are starting to increase in value. Mackemsrule is sitting on a few quid if he has undamaged boxes for his unmodified systems, with games undamaged box and and instruction and console in full working order he could get about 200 quid. Depending on which spectrum he's got he could get upto 250 quid. Get you hands on a boxed Neo Geo and you're looking 500 quid to a Grand. Without an undamaged box most of these systems aren't worth much.
A friend of mine looked in his attic a few years ago and discovered 9 boxed, un-tampered, pristine NES Consoles with Duck Hunt and Mario games free inside. He said his dad must have got a job lot off the back of a wagon one Christmas and forgot they were up there. In that condition (and he still has them all) they're probably worth about £2k each. I have a brand new, unopened XBox 360 as mine got RROD about 5 days after I bought it from a catalogue, they send a new one but never sent anybody to pick up my 'broken' one, which miraculously started working again and never packed in, then it was replaced with a slim model. Must be worth about £4 now that
Not much now, but it will go up in value year by year. Don't sell it. It will be worth a fortune one day. I wouldn't sell any console boxed. Your mate with all the NES systems will have a nice little retirement kitty in 20-30 years. Thing is you have to resist playing them which is pretty easy with modern gaming being so ****ing awesome.
Yeah nostalgia really shouldn't be explored, it's nice to remember but revisiting physically is usually a let down, especially with food. Less E-numbers allowed in reproduction stuff so it ends up never tasting the same! I'll never play that thing, I have my brothers old battered 360 if I fancy a blast on Skyrim but that's all, I'm next gen now, it's all the rage...no games worth scratching your arse with but you do get to argue non stop with dorks about who has the best graphics, although that never keeps me entertained for very long.
