We got tarantulas around here. They have a migration season where they all come out and wander around looking for a new mate. I did find a scorpion in my house last week which was far more disturbing than a big spider.

this is what they look like

I've seen one or two of those around mine.

I've got a colony of those false widows everyone was raving about around my house. There were three or four living under the little canopy outside the back door last year, and now there's ****ing hundreds of the bastard all round the outsides of the house. They've set up cobwebs covering the outsides of all the windows, they keep setting cobwebs up on the car, and the first one was unfortunate to make it into the house last night before getting squashed. They're completely un aggressive but it's only a matter of time before I accidentally 'threaten' one and it bites me.

    ****ing hate spiders the ****s.

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2007-08-21/dwarf-gets-penis-stuck-to-vacuum-cleaner/645484

A dwarf performer at the Edinburgh Fringe festival had to be rushed to hospital after his penis got stuck to a vacuum cleaner during an act that went horribly awry.

Daniel Blackner, or 'Captain Dan the Demon Dwarf', was due to perform at the Circus of Horrors at the festival known for its oddball, offbeat performances.

The main part of his act saw him appear on stage with a vacuum cleaner attached to his member through a special attachment.

The attachment broke before the performance and Blackner tried to fix it using extra-strong glue, but unfortunately only let it dry for 20 seconds instead of the 20 minutes required.

He then joined it directly to his organ. The end result? A solid attachment, laughter, mortification and ... hospitalisation.

"It was the most embarrassing moment of my life when I got wheeled into a packed A&E [accident and emergency ward] with a vacuum attached to me," Blackner said.

Spiders are great. They eat all those flies and wasps when they buzz up from Hell.

    Long live the spider.

you should never trust anything that makes it home using its arse. I am sure I read somewhere recently that we now have our first spider that attacks humans. I read that it waits in toilets under the rim until it senses a movement then leaps out and attacks yer nuts. currently just in the warmer south but could spread North

When I was outside work having a cig one afternoon I watched a wasp fly into a web. The spider flew from its perch to wrap up the wasp, obviously contemptuous after securing what it believed was an easy meal. But this particular wasp was no easy meal. I'm uncertain whether the spider had ever encountered a wasp before but my estimation is it hadn't.

Anyway, despite being well and truly stuck in a death trap, this wasp lost no heart. It was brave, it fought, it wriggled and writhed and managed to wiggle its arse into position to sting its killer in a last stab act of defiance, spitting in the eye of death itself. The spider froze momentarily but soon continued to wearily wrap up its foe before struggling a retreat back to its central perch. I watched this fascinating clash of titans for 10 minutes before going back in to work.

Next time I went out for a cig, both creatures were dead. I've still not decided which was the victor.
