I have been really impressed with Mings, from his very first game you could tell he had the right attitude (he split open his knee but kept playing through it). I thought he was very good going forward but that often left himself a bit exposed, however he is clearly going from strength to strength with MM coaching him. I'm not reading too much into the Chelsea link, I was reading a link someone posted on TWTD and it turns out his dad is a scout for Chelsea so I imagine his dad came to watch him play and someone put 2+2 together and ended up with 5.
I'm with you on this. Think as we tend to do on here we're going a little overboard with him. Apart from the past 3 games he's looked like a bit of a donkey for the majority of the game to me. He's seems a bit of an all or nothing player to me and can seem to go from the sublime to ridiculous in a matter of minutes. Got a long way to go to be mentioned in the same breath as Cresswell yet, who was our most consistent player we've had in years. He may well turn out to be a good player but the last 3 games come after a dodgy first few games. The great thing about Mick is if he believes in a player he has the patience with them to help them develop but the problem is if he's not convinced they don't have a chance.
Why are we comparing Mings with Cresswell for heavens sake! They are different players with different skill sets!
