Apparently, there is a round of applause planned seventeen minutes into today's game, to remember the two lads that died in the plane crash on their way to the pre-season friendly. Something I'm sure we'll all support.
guy on HDM comments who's dad is a toon fan said its on 19 minutes .. probably on a wind up , but just thought I would mention it in case it does happen on 19 minutes just so you are aware
Newcastle United fans are celebrating the life of two dedicated fans this season - and we invite our supporters to join them during Saturday's early-afternoon kick-off. Liam Sweeney and John Alder died on July 17 - two of the 298 killed in the MH17 air disaster. As well as official tributes, Newcastle fans are applauding in the 17th minute of games - in the same way we did to show our support for the battle with cancer of Stan Petrov in the 19th minute.
And let's hope some thick twat doesn't show a complete lack of respect by unnecessarily diverting this thread.
I wouldn't bother mentioning your opinion if you're at the match. There's a lot of feeling for those two lads. Massive Toon fans and much missed in the community.
You really are a massive **** Mr. D. Have you no shame? Have your no respect? I'll be applauding from my living room, a young lad from my hometown was on that plane, it shook the entire community, terrible stuff.
Terrible state of affairs in Ukraine, and innocent people have suffered yet again. I can't believe some twat brought CTWD into it. Some people will stoop to the lowest of lows just to make a point.
How in holy **** can a minutes applause at 17 minutes be taken over by something at 19 minutes, you boring prick?
They used to do these kind of things before a game, now it seems to be done during a game. But what if something big against Newcastle say happens at that time? I like when these were done just before a game so people can show respect but not stopping the game when people have started watching it..
Respect? Try telling CTWD that. Take off your rose tinted specs you stupid c*nt. How am I being disrespectful by saying I hope CTWD don't derail it, I would be saying the opposite. stupid f*ck. Indeed, what a terrible incident and respect to the toons fans and the rest of the footballing community for showing their support.
I think your response is shameful. Two supporters doing what we all do, go to watch their team, never to return. It should be supported and respected by both sets of supporters.
