And there was me hoping I would be getting a foreign port , working out of Aberdeen, **** there goes the tax back
As long as it does some good & things change all over the country. It's not just Scotland that needs sorting out. As i'm half English half Scottish it makes for decent reading. Plus, hated Salmond.
Watch all the party leaders row back from the promises with which they bribed Scotland. It's already started......
Scotland seems to be divided by religion in a sporting sense eg Rangers/Celtic, Hibs/Hearts, and will now be divided by this Yes/No vote as even though the No vote won there was still a sizeable yes vote and my main concern is that the real losers will be the English. In Westminster's panic driven response to a possible Scottish Yes vote the Scots were promised all sorts of extra devolution goodies which will have to be paid for somehow and nothing was promised to the English regions of similar goodies from those who want autonomy from London's grasp. There was whimsical talk of a Northern powerhouse stretching from east to west, but excluding Hull of course, which has now been drowned out by the possible split up of the UK and yet still amongst all the speeches given over the last few weeks by politicians can I find any reference to England's future in a possible divided UK and any benefits it may derive from such a scenario. On top of that there is still no commitment about a vote on remaining in EU or more devolved powers to the English regions in short the English are being sold short or worse still sh*t on yet again in Westminster's grovelling to other regions.
It is very hard to get invested and/or take a side when you hate the pricks heading both ends of the debate. But I'll take a no vote over yes.
Cameron: "Phew, door closed on this Scotland situation" Clegg/Teaboy: "Well don't sit down, the English are kicking the **** out of the other door"
Cameron's no campaign was pathetic. He got ridiculously lucky that Brown stepped in and gave that speech. Dunno if it swayed the argument, but it was all going down hill for the Westminster Elite.
I think that intellectual powerhouse Eddie Izard swung it. Russell Brand being in favour of a yes vote won't have helped their cause eithet.
I don't think Cameron even tried with a no campaign. The 'independence' Salmond was offering was utterly absurd. I think if they'd voted yes they'd have found themselves a bit more independent than they'd bargained for and anyone with half a brain could figure that out. Some of the services they were expecting England to keep giving them were unbelievable. And then the fact that Salmond figured out it would cost £200m to govern the country for a year. In comparison, our treasury put aside £200m to fix potholes in the roads, Manchester United spent that on players... Only problem now is the yes campaigners seemed to be the scrotes, the edl thug types, and now they've been humbled by the silent majority they will surely start kicking off, as such delinquents know no better.
Voter turnout broke all records for this one. All over Scotland, men and women exercising their hard fought for democratic rights. This footage of Glaswegians heading for the polling stations, in particular, brings a tear to the eye.
If they get (as promised) the ability to raise tax revenues, allocated to them by Westminster, then I'd think the Barnett Formula payments will be reduced in consequence. So they will begin to pay for their own (free) education, as well as their own better-funded 'NHS'.
