"Fulham Chairman Shahid Khan today named Kit Symons as Caretaker Manager of Fulham Football Club and will personally and immediately lead a thorough search for the new First Team Manager of the Club. Symons, the Under-21s Manager at Fulham, replaces Felix Magath. Mr Khan today thanked Mr Magath for his efforts through the final three months of last season in the Barclays Premier League and the first seven matches this season in the Sky Bet Championship. "This is an unfortunate but necessary change," Mr Khan said. "I am doing what I feel is right and needed for Fulham Football Club, for today as well as tomorrow. "I thank our supporters for standing by us during these most difficult of times on the pitch, and promise better days ahead."
And so ends about the strangest period I can recall in the 22 years I've supported Fulham. Appropriate that his last team selection was as bamboozling as anything that had gone before. Interesting the emphasis that Khan will lead the search for the new boss. I hope he takes good advice this time. He can't afford to get this one wrong.
Excellent news! It was lunch time US not UK. The changes in "Hyndman's" are coming. Khan will be taking more of a role and maybe a hint for CEO...
Indeed. Where does that leave Ali Mac? In the meantime it will be equally interesting to see what happens to the 'coaching' staff and whether Kit gets someone in to help him. I'd fully expect to see Oral and Lenz joining Felix on their bikes. Peter Grant? Don't know - it was a strange appointment in the first place.
Not before time, i only hope that Kit is given some time to settle in, it maybe a good idea to have someone experienced so they could possibly work together in tandem. This is a new beginning lets see a 20,000 + crowd this Saturday ONWARDS & UPWARDS
Thank god for that! It was getting depressing being the butt of all the jokes at work, my daughter is a few days off being 5 months old and has never seen us win a league game that's ridiculous! Now please anyone but Pulis!!!!
That's the ticket Bidley. Means Kit staying in charge at least until the International break - which I think would be would be good. There's 4 League and 1 Cup game until then. Gives time for the dust to settle and get harmony back into the dressing room before appointing someone permanently. And those points on the board as you suggest.
He been put out of his misery. FMs results were poor, his players selection, last night, was strange as were other games. Onwards and upwards. Good luck to Kyt and the boys. Everyone has got what they wanted and whoever comes in can't do any worse!
Really pleased that Khan has taken some control of the situation. We needed a strong statement from the club and we got it. I hope that Kit gets a bit of calm into the players. I hope he puts an arm around the players and gets some team spirit going. Not really enough time for him to get much training in so I hope for a solid performance at the weekend, with players playing in their proper positions and some defending as a team. COYW
He was a strange one, no doubt. Just read this in the Telegraph: The Telegraph can reveal that one of Magath’s final acts was to ignore advice to leave for Wednesday’s game against Nottingham Forest early, resulting in Fulham arriving only 35 minutes before kick-off and narrowly avoiding a Football League fine. Magath’s final game proved to be the 5-3 defeat at Forest, for which he and his players arrived at the City Ground at 7.10pm for their 7.45pm kick-off and barely had time to prepare. Magath was forced to telephone his team in from the coach for club secretary Darren Preston to hand to the referee and Forest officials. Football League rules state that the club captain and person in charge of the team on that day, the manager or assistant manager, are supposed to hand the team-sheet into the referee and opposition at least 60 minutes before kick-off. Fulham just made the deadline over the telephone and the Football League has confirmed it is willing to accept the fact Preston handed in the team-sheet in the absence of Magath and captain Scott Parker. There is work being undertaken on the roads into the City Ground and Fulham confirmed the team coach got stuck in traffic. It is believed Magath brushed off suggestions that he and his squad should leave extra time to get to the game on time. Magath gave his players a rare day off on Thursday, but was universally unpopular for his boot-camp regime that saw players put through three training sessions in a day and forced to go on long runs before and after pre-season games. What a clown.
Fair do's Craving, I did miss Bidley's play on words. And it is indeed good to see the man back. So much so that I won't even mention the Fantasy League!
