Agree entirely silky. If Felix goes and tomorrow night surely is a watershed one way or the other, then Shad Khan has to extremely diligent and not make any more mistakes. With the hordes clammering for a return of the Clubâs lost identity what are the odds that the ânew manâ will have a strong Fulham FC connection? And what about this pair forming a partnership to re-store the Club and fan unity? please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I would welcome Ray Lewington back with open arms. Even on a job share with England. Can't see that though. Maybe Symons & Murphy though?
The thing we've not tried is a proven manager. And I mean proven in the English game. We should be looking for someone to steady the ship, and much as I hate to say it, someone like Tony Pulis fits that description, and wouldn't represent a gamble of any sort.
G R O A N !!! Get more depressed when Mitroglou scores, with an assist from Kasami. And I was just hoping to avoid more gloom for today at least. COYW! Please!
It would mean throwing out the tradition of trying to play attractive football. I'm not sure if that counts as a gamble, but I certainly think it's too high a price to pay. Do you remember some Stoke fans saying that they hadn't enjoyed watching their team for several years? We have to ask ourselves what's most important to us. Do we want to see Fulham back in the Premier League at any cost, or do we want Fulham to remain recognisably Fulham (but playing a lot better than we have for the last 18 months or so)? Appointing a Pulis or Sam Alladyce or someone similar would be ghastly. I want to see us back in the Premier League, but if the price is playing a horrible style of football for several years, I'd rather not. I recognise that others will disagree with this. Fair enough, but there's more to football than success. I don't want Fulham to trample its own identity in a desperate rush to get back on the gravy train.
I agree on watching good football. I thought Pulis set CP playing some good football last season. Nothing of the old Stoke game. Probably because he had the players for such a setup. Captain old mate, this is not about the gravy train any more... It is to avoid the slide further!
There's been a total underestimation of the scale of the job that needs to be done just to stay in this league. After 6 games I think there was an element of arrogance from the club in that we could go straight back up. The rebuild was always going to painful. The question is whether FM is the right person to rebuild and take the club forward. I'd like to see him do it, he's clearly a winner, he's been successful (in other leagues) and I think he's taking it quite personally. His comment about him being baffled by the situation says that he doesn't quite know what to do but I do sense some determination to solve the problem. A decent performance is crucial for me.
Madness knows what I mean. Besides, not much remains of our identity right now, sad though it is to say. Our PR is going down the pan, we've been watching our side get battered every week for 18 months in two different leagues, not to mention talk of player unrest for at least that long. My point wasn't really that we should definitely get Pulis in, but someone of his ilk, someone with experience at this level or at least in the english game, should be considered should Magath go.
Just had a look on Twitter and there are some rumours flying around that Magath is on his way and Steve Clarke will be coming in. Despite his Chelsea ties I reckon he'd be a good shout.
I agree with you here Craving. I'd much rather we turned a corner with Felix as we could really do without another change of manager and another mass exodus and influx of players. However, his comments echo his actions. 27 players, 3 different goalkeepers, 9 different defenders, and various different formations in 6 games suggests that he just doesn't have the answers. I expect more wholesale changes tonight and another disjointed performance as a result. I'd love to be proved wrong, though.
Solskjaer having crisis talks at Cardiff after 8 points in 7 matches. Meanwhile we look set to soldier on with 1 point from 7. Painful.
I'd rather try 5 different pegs than try and fit a square peg in a round hole. Of course, like everyone else, I want Felix to turn this around a get us back on track. But sadly I just see very little to suggest he will.
We are in the same situation as last year. We had an international break where formations, technical training, etc. could have taken place but nothing is visible on the pitch... As all of you said, I would rather see Magath succeed, but is the same as with Jol last year. Something is fundamentally wrong... Not very reliable but that's on today's ES. http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/dday-for-felix-magath-as-fulham-boss-is-told-lose-to-nottingham-forest-and-youre-sacked-9737912.html
I am tired of losing and I don't get his player selection or formation. However, he's baffled by results and the player rotation is probably a large part of it. But wishing we lose so that FM gets the sack is a horrible scenario. Not that anyone of my fellow 606ers is saying this, a number of other forums have said this is what they want. I never want my team to lose.
We the supporters are baffled that he is baffled which leaves the players and board baffled while the press are baffled what to report, the bookies baffled failing to predict the next manager to get the sack. The only people who are not baffled are the opposition managers and players who enjoy playing us at the moment! (Brentford was a bleep, statistical error, lucky stars, perfect alignment, call it what ever you like, something like CP last season)
