Matt Upson remains Leicester only injury and Nigel Pearson has said there is a "strong possibility" that Kasper Schmeichel will be fit to return. Matty James also returns from injury but Nick Powell is ineligible. So here is what I would go with

    Schmeichel

    De Laet
    Moore
    Morgan
    Konchesky

    Hammond

    King
    Cambiasso
    Drinkwater

    Mahrez

    Ulloa

Subs- Hamer, Wasilewski, Schlupp, James, Albrighton, Vardy, Nugent

Sentiment aside, I feel Nuge should be dropped as there are better options and against Man U I think we need more in the midfield. I'd say

    Kasper
    De Laet, Morgan, Moore, Konch
    Mahrez, Drinky, Hammond, Cambiasso, Schlupp
    Ulloa

Agree with this team, but Pearson is very loyal to Nugent,

Interesting that everyone has Schlupp in their team.

I thought he was awful against Stoke and has been pretty wasteful going forward all season although he does obviously offer pace and a bit extra defensively.

    I'd go with:

    Kasper

    De Laet Morgan Moore Konch

    Drinkwater Cambiasso

    Mahrez Nugent Vardy

    Ulloa

Possibly Hammond to come in and Drinkwater in the Nuge role.

He's still very young and is learning ... but I feel he gives Konch the added protection necessary ... and that cross against Arsenal? ... he has done that on more than one occasion over the past two seasons and I fancy that he can do the same more often in our home games ... and if you'd watched the United v QPR game (which I hope Nige has) you'd have picked up that they are still very wobbly at the back when attacked at pace ...

Also pretty hard to see why you'd prefer to keep Nuge if your team selection is based on judging players on their overall contribution so far this season? ...

As it is I too would favour this line-up

    Schmeichel
    De Laet Morgan Moore Konchesky
    Mahrez Hammond Cambiasso Drinkwater Schlupp
    Ulloa

... would bring Vardy on in the second half - probably for Jeff ....

I agree with some of what your saying FF, Jeff does certainly some decent protection for Konch and he will get better. Some of his decision making and particularly his composure have been really lacking at times.
Jeff himself admitted that he didn't know Ulloa was there for the cross v Arsenal and just whipped it in but if he can regularly put in crosses of that calibre, he'll be an asset.

As for Nuge, the reason I kept him in is because I feel we'll need his hassling and harrying to deal with Blind who I thought started a lot of United's moves against QPR. The couple of times QPR actually pressed United, they looked uncomfortable and Nuge will do that for 90 mins. Despite a couple of wasteful shots I think his general play has been pretty good this season, although I'm aware your not his biggest fan.

The goalkeeper should be Kasper if fit

    The back four pick themselves

If cambiasso is match fit then he has to start.

Drinkwater has done enough for a starting place IMHO
King and Hammond also have done enought for a starting place

Also Vardy (although only been on a short time) hasn't yet proved enough to replace Nugent and Ulloa must start
The major probable with this formation is a lack of width.

    Subs bench
    Hammer
    Schlupp
    Vardy
    Marhez
    knockhart
James (if fit) GTF if not
    Wasilewski
    Albrighton

With GTF and Wasilerski on the subs bench not sure how much room will be left for others - LOL (I know it's not actally a bench any more)

We will probably be unchanged except for Blackett droppping to bench with Rojo at CB and Shaw at LB

Schlupp gives us that bit of pace, whilst he might not look that good when he has the ball (eg. shocking miss at Everton) his off-the-ball movement creates a lot of space and draws defenders out. This allows Mahrez to drift in from the opposite flank. He's a different option, which is always good, and Pearson rewards players who've been performing. He won't be dropping him yet- in fact, the worry is that he might stick with the same starting 11 at Stoke, when it was a couple of substitutes who really made the difference for us!

I think the game will be won and lost in between the our midfield and defenders. If Di Maria, Mata and Rooney drop deep and pull the strings we will get hammered. If we can nullify the space and close the down then I think Man U are very beatable

    Easier said then done

Thats why I would go with 4 centre midfielders with Mahrez playing off Ulloa

I would start cambiasso has he is the only one who will have dealt with someone of Di Maria's quality... but based on his interview Cambiasso is a substitutes option

Jamie Redknapp has this down as a draw with Ulloa first goalscorer. He also said he wouldn't be surprised if we nicked it

He is about the only pundit who rates us. No doubt Harry has had a word

You wait until you see Jamie Vardy. He will make Di Maria look like Steve Howard <ok>
