Geez Attivo, I'm impressed by your efforts. The forum would be much the poorer without your input mate.
I'll second that Cyc, the Daily Thread is top notch these days Worth pointing out that the Listowel card includes the Kerry National at 4.40 - a 3 mile Grade A Handicap Chase with Alderwood carrying top weight off a mark of 147, AP on board. Quite like the look of his stablemate Klepht though, and anything ridden by Barry Geraghty in this type of race is worth a second look, so Jacksonslady is worth an e/w dabble too.
It’s also ‘Listed Wednesday’ tomorrow with races of that grade being run at Sandown Park, Yarmouth and Listowel. Personally, I can’t wait to see TIME TEST out again at Sanders (3.15). The race isn’t a betting medium but fascinating to see how he fares as he starts scaling the old ladder.
Our best two year old runs at Sandown Park tomorrow. Quality Song You should see him work, nothing can get near him and he does it so easily. Roger thinks he will win the Guineas next year that's why he has decided to start him in the best two year old race of the season so far. We ran Decorated Knight at Doncaster and he ran well, Quality Song beats him eight or nine lengths on the gallops. Everyone at the yard is backing him for this.
The original purchasers of this Quality Song suffered a noticable loss when they resold him earlier in the year. Quality Song was bought by the Tally-Ho Stud, what a lovely name for a stud by the way, at Keenland, last July, as a yearling for $140,000, but sold at Tattersalls in April for just 50,000 guineas. Suprisingly, if he’s so good, that he has been given no big race entries.
I'd struggle to cry for Tally-Ho, they have the top two 2yo sires this year in Kodiac and Zebedee (70 2yo races between the two of them this season) and must be due a big dividend in the next two years. Good to see a stud like this doing so well. Dartmouth should win the previous race.
With the natives across the border getting increasingly restless and all the claims and counter claims being made by both sides I'm increasingly wary (and also a little weary) of the whole business. From a punting perspective I'm drawn to a couple of very solid characters who've proved more than competent in the past. At Yarmouth the 12 year old sprinter Bordelesscott gets my vote @ 12s ew. Now some 25 lbs below his glory days he has still performed with credit in recent runs. In the Kerry National I like old boy Muirhead @ 20s ew. Now rated 2 stone below his best but again recent runs have shown he still has an appetite for the game. All his 6 wins were secured with Carberry on board too. Good luck all having a go today. Some decent racing for a Wednesday.
Hi all my first post on here, though I have been reading the forum for a while. Here' two I'm going for today.......Nota Cambiata 2-30 Sandown.......Bashiba 4-20 Beverley. Couple of quid on the tip Quality Song,Thankyou.
You guys know more about the Varian stable than I, but if Lynn is for real, then the strength of the outfit might give the horse a real chance.
Yes Cyc with Cursory Glance going in so well on Sunday they have a fair yardstick as to what is a good 2yo this year. I always liked Varian's predecessor Michael Jarvis. Always a good trainer and so glad he had such a successful last 10 years.
If you had a horse that was going so well, would you create an account on a public forum and tell them how good he is prior to his debut? I wouldn't, but then again I am a selfish g*t!
Michael Jarvis was one of my favourite trainers of all time (probably only topped by Mr Henderson and Sir Henry). A total gentleman who both knew how to train and place a horse. It’s amazing incidentally how many handlers are totally inept at this latter trait. Roger Varian has made a great start to his training career and had, as we all know, an amazing weekend with back to back Group 1 wins. With Arzeni going on to pastures new I wonder if he will appoint a new stable jockey at the end of this campaign or instead employ a policy of using the best available?!? Great opportunity for someone if he opts for the former option. Nass, old boy, and if he was going so well at home would he really be 20/1 in a 4 horse race. Still, you pays your money and takes your chance as they say.
If you were so excited and proud of him you could easily do so. I say welcome to a new poster who can probably teach us a lot.
