Mind think they're going to vote yes.. There seems to be this wave of national pride and to give us a two finger salute. I wouldn't mind them voting yes if they weren't just believing a load of **** being sold to them by salmond.
What happens when scotlands literally on its own? No uk and no eu? I mean who in europe would want scotland in tge eu after separating from the uk? Spain wouldn't, uk wouldn't (or would we). Any nation who has its own potential splinter group would see this as a way to encourage a future split wouldnt they? Could scotland become a 'billy no mates'? If so what could it mean for scots?
Salmond has already said that he wants Scotland to become the junior partner of Norway! Beer will go up to £12 a pint just like in Oslo... Serves them ****ing right!
25% vat too. Salmonds a moron isnt he. Wants it all. Currency union but won't share the oil. Wont pay their share of the debt if they dont keep our pound. Thinks scotland already has a military. Scots who believe his guff should **** off regardless of the vote. To the Faroe islands
Don' confuse those on the poverty line with the feral wastrels. The former will vote the latter never do. The former are a bigger number than the latter also Or to make a finer point, if Scotland was actually doing well economically, the No vote would be miles ahead right now and the yes camp wouldn't stand a chance imo.
Scotland has oil. Not as much as it once had, not as much as Salmond tries to imply, but they're turning up at an exclusive party with one bottle of whisky and a party seven, rather than the crate of vodka and barrel of Foster's hat they promised. They'll still get let in, as will the Ukranians with their oil and gas.
To get in to the EU, Scotlands application would have to be agreed by ALL of the existing member states. I don't see Spain voting for accession whilst they have problems with both the Catalans and the Basques. Plus Brussels has already stipulated that if they applied to join the EU, Scotland would have to apply for mebership of the Euro. Now Salmond is a very sly character but perhaps he has forgotten that no deal has yet been agreed with the UK government. Unless and until it has any ships, Scotland could not meet the maritime requirements for nations joining NATO - plus it does not have an air force. So what has Scotland got to offer to tempt countries to break the rules? A drop of oil which can be bought on the open market without any reference to Scotland. Whiskey? Well I don't see Scotland getting very far with a "do as we say or you don't get the booze approach". After all Scotland would have to near give the stuff away anyway as they have no trade agreements with the EU. BTW, it's the Russians who have the oil and gas and not the Ukraininas.
When we have no control whatsoever over the vote we can either worry how negatively it could affect us or have no interest at all, neither position will alter any price hikes that the rest of the UK will feel as a consequence should they vote yes.
An independent Scotland would de well to stay away from the EU and f**ing NATO. Scotland doesn't need a navy or an airforce
We are yet to see what the response will be to the Scottish decision. My best guess is that if they vote yes then the English will become very engaged with the detail of the arrangements for seperation and how much it is likely to cost then. Payback time for Salmond methinks
I think you're right Dave. I think the response will be like when Torres left us for Chelsea. Should they vote yes, there'll be a lot who hope they struggle and fail miserably, and a lot who wish them luck as long as the leaving doesn't impact us negatively with not too many in between!
I see the pollsters are already saying that the polls could be very inaccurate, really! Remember 1992 when Kinnock was going to walk the election according to the polls, he lost dismally. I still think what someone says in the street is not the same as they will vote, especially on this occasion where there is so much nationalistic fever. I still reckon the "No" vote will win by a considerable margin, and then all the conspiracy theories will come out from Salmond about how the Conservatives fixed it. Just be glad when its all over
I would agree... the issue would become some means of making the scots pay all the cost. I am not sure if the "revenues" that salmond claims is being stolen such as oil is not actually BPs and not the uk governments to the extent that it'd cover the whole sheebang. I'd be interested to see how the scots are made pay for the cost of independence. Say yes and basically they would need an instant NHS division for example... i would just see that and education and such being immediate targets. who pays? england can't right now scotlands gets payments in to run the devolved scenario so if scotland can't instantly lay its hands on oil money they can't pay can they?
Russia has oil and gas already running through pipes - some of which go via Ukraine! Even if they started today it would take the best part of a decade for Ukraine to enjoy the benefits of a theoretical shale gas/oil bonanza.
Scottland independence is going to make the whole of United Kingdom vulnerable attack by terrorists, because independent Scottland is not going to have a powerful security.
No. We'll just build a proper border, finish the job that Hadrian started, only this time we'll stick gun turrets on the f**er And while we're re-drawing the boundary, I think we should donate them Newcastle
