65million for a 27 year old suarez who will be nearly 28 by the time he plays a game.

Take his annual holiday into account and suddenly 60million for twicebthe player seems decent. Age isnt a factor.

I believe he will come to us next season and part of that deal will be Hernandez on a permanent transfer. Even that Guiliem ???? guy believes we have prepared a deal for next season. In terms of wages that won't be a problem, particularly with new deals in the pipeline for shirt manufacturer and image rights (which will take his salary up to the quoted £500k figure), basic wages will be in line with the rest of the top earners at the club.

Obviously he will not be the force he once was, but he is adapting into a more skilfull and effective player and he would fit in well with the dynamic and fluid style that LVG seems to want us to play.

Money isn't a factor either. If United can afford it why should we care? Other fans can point and laugh at how much United paid for a 30 year old but will the United fans care if the lad bangs in 30 goals and helps the team win the league? Not one tiny bit!

We rarely get big money goalscorer signings wrong. Very rarely.

    Cantona
    Cole
    Yorke
    Ruud
    Rooney
    Berbatov
    Tevez
    Rvp
    Di maria (creates them)
    Ronaldo?

    Hell of a list...

I see how you cunningly omitted Davenport and Birtles.

Went for pricier players. Weve also had some great buys on the cheaper side of things.

When you look at the Alan Brazil of today it's amazing to even contemplate that he was a professional footballer.

So it seems that Ronaldo wants to follow his partner Angel Di Maria? maybe he is struggling to find his new duo at Real Madrid. Anyway Ronaldo still Real Madrid's player until 2018 and I doubt there would be a buy cluase, if there is I think I'll stick with that €1 billion.

    And Veron..<whistle>

But regarding Ronaldo. He is a proven match winner. He has already played for United and knows the set up. Ok not exactly the same as SAF but the attacking philosophy with LVG is the the same. He will be as solid an investment as you can get in football tranfers.

He would have given the best years of his career to Real no doubt. But even in "decline" he would one of the best players on the planet. Ronaldo/Di Maria/Falcao? One can only dream :)

Real has a history of selling their players while they still have some value. There is no way they'll keep him until 2018. They would want some money back to get the latest superstar to sell their shirts.

How many of them signed by the current board/manager though? Di Maria has played what 2 games!! And he's a british transfer record so unlikely to go wrong (Yes I know Torres was as well before that reply comes back!).

2/3 years is a long time in football especially when considering the wages you'll pay a top line player in that time. Age is a massive factor. Would Bale have cost 85 million if he was 34 instead of 24?

Money is always a factor. You've gone on a spree this year to catch up. United wont spend so wildly every year. But I agree as fans it's not for you to worry about.

We used to use him as a target man/striker and put Rooney out wide in big champions league games, as Ronaldo couldn't be trusted to do the defensive side of things and track his man back. Ronaldo had some of his best games playing that role for us too.

Was Shevchenko really that good a player though? Seria A has always been a funny division to judge a players ability, as it's very slow and tactical. Shevchenko was obviously a very good player, but I'm not sure he was the world beater he was billed as.

One things for certain, Ronaldo is a miles better player than Shevchenko ever was. We are talking about one of the greatest players to ever play the game. A player who's averaged more than a goal a game for Madrid over 5 years, and will be regarded as there greatest ever player once he leaves.

Sheva was world class, not Ronaldo's league I give you.

You probably saw more of Ronaldo at United than I did but I kind of thought your forwards rotated a lot during games rather than anyone being an out an out number 9. From what I've seen , it's not his best position and you are pretty well stocked at 9 as it goes!

Ronaldo and Di Maria either side of a No 9, be it van Persie or Falcao with a No. 10 of Mata or Rooney operating behind the striker would be pretty ****ing good.

Herrerra and Blind at CM, four man defence behind those.

    What's not to like?
