entertaining game, west ham have made some good signings n all ramirez impressed, ben arfa just rusty, will improve defence just looks the shell of last season, hernandez looked quality, first game in the prem, been away in asia etc, hit the bar, will be good jelavic seemed to form the start of a good partnership with him, i didnt like the 4 at the back though with the players we used, quinny was good at the start but that little fall over or whatever seemed to affect him, diame looked good but tried to hard at the simple stuff, (provably understandable) great goal, lots of positives though
Good game and a fair result. Our defense looked shaky and we seemed a bit off when attacking at times, but I think a lot of that had to do with a change in formation, new players about, and them not being use to playing alongside one another. With more training and match time with each other, I think most of the little errors will be cleaned up.
Anybody think huddlestones in a bit of a comfort zone? Hardly knew he was playing. Can see him being dropped if he doesmt start imposing himself more. Diame battled well , hernandez wow, jelavic worked his arse off, dawson had a good game, davies bit off the boil and robertson had a mixed game, Biggest concern is the sloppy goals were conceding that second goal was a shocker to concede, but thought we deserved to win tonight alot more decent efforts on goal than we usually see all from hernandez too
The back 4 didn't work. Either get Chester in or revert back to 3 CB's. Diame and Hernandez did well - Ramirez looked good and Ben Arfa needs game time. I thought the Thudd Livermore Quinn set up didn't work - Jelavic put a good shift in however I think his place could go to Ramirez or Ben Arfa. Hernandez will score goals though and we need goals
Livermore and Huddlestone often don't work well together recently, wish we tried something else. Bruce interview: West Ham surprised us with system played Hernandez full of life in training yesterday so put him in needed to keep lead for 10 minutes - got turned around easy chased Diame over the summer for a long while, played at this level for 6 years good point gained
Just got home, great game to watch, Hernandez was excellent, Diame and Dawson were very good, Elmo his usual reliable performance, Hudd and Livermore had good games, Quinn was very good for the first half, but faded after half time, Robertson mixed, gave the ball away to often. All in all a much better look to the team going forward, just need to re-jig the defence. Edit: Ramirez looks a tidy player when he came on.
I think we'll be seeing more high score draws if we keep playing like that! Look good going forward but we need someone who's gonna keep the shape in the middle when we lose the ball! can we afford Thudd playing there? We were calling out for meyler there and Thudd further forward! Jake gets caught out of position and leaves Thudd exposed! We need a sitter.
****SPLASH! Just got in from work- twatting van broke down 6 miles from the job so I had to AA it back to Brum. Now I'll spend tomorrow trying to get a new alternator fitted and lose another days wage. ****ettycuntrash!
I thought Quinn, Livermore and Thudd all had very poor games. Quinn especially was a real hindrance to Robertson, he kept taking up his space and releasing the ball too slowly which is strange as he normally works well with the left full back. The only person to take control in the middle was Diame and the formation may have had something to do with that, it just didn't really work for me. For Newcastle I would revert to a 3412 with Ramirez behind the strikers and Diame alongside one of Hudd/Livermore in the middle. That formation frees up Robertson and Elmo a lot more and gets Chester back in the defence.
For once there was a City match that served up some decent entertainment on Sky and looking and reading this morning most of the talk was about Valencia's goal. But the media are talking about the game and in a positive light, there is much to anticipate when all the various players have had time to adjust to their new team and on paper things look quite promising, as long as the name change situation doesn't detract from things on the pitch. Diame reminds of Yaya Toure as he strolls about the pitch and overall it seems as if Hull City's star is still climbing
