Sorry Banksy, whilst I admit that I don't actually KNOW if there were City fans in there, with respect mate neither do you. I know the mentality of some of our fans and I wouldn't put it past them. That said, it could not have been many if indeed there were any - and doesn't excuse the Rovers 'fans' behaviour.
"Sorry Banksy, whilst I admit that I don't actually KNOW if there were City fans in there, with respect mate neither do you. I know the mentality of some of our fans and I wouldn't put it past them" You obviously don't know the mentality of our fans. Fans that would want to go and goad Rovers fans would absolutely no way be wearing City shirts, (they wouldn't even own one) that is a fact. it is also a fact that the Mansfield fans were all over their own forums saying it was absolutely untrue that there were ANY City fans or City chanting, you can go read it for yourself if you like. The reason they do this is exactly as you have demonstrated. They hope they will catch a percentage from both sides who will say 'it's probably true' I ask again, Why would City fans pay to go watch what was in all (high) probability going to be Rovers fans celebrating staying up? Smoke and mirrors..
Oh Banksy - I am touched by your innocence and faith in City fans. Let me tell you some REAL facts - that I myself have witnessed: - 1980s after a Bristol Derby - an 'alleged' Rovers fan being beaten to a pulp on Bedminster bridge before being thrown over into the river - FACT - someone I worked with was there and admitted to doing it - and was PROUD of it. - 1990s in the Attyo stand right in front of me - a dad being beaten by 3 'fans' because he asked them to stop swearing in front of his 5-year old son - FACT - 1990s - my mate (a city fan) in the Specials - attacked by City fans whilst trying to keep them from attacking a group of Millwall fans - 1990s - A People carrier (espace or something) surrounded and attacked by City fans following the 1-0 defeat to Everton in the FA cup (right in front of me) - 1990s - Longs Bar is Swindon (just up the road from where I live) smashed up by City fans returning from an away game - I can't remember where. - 2000s - Millwall supporters bus (with families in) set alight by City fans (in the news -common knowledge) I am a City fan and always will be - but there are some idiots among us too - so don't think we are always innocent. The fact that Rovers also have idiots is not the point. At the endof the day I am saying that NEITHER of us know if there were city fans there or not. Thats all.
"At the end of the day I am saying that NEITHER of us know if there were city fans there or not. Thats all" The rest of your listing is irrelevant as it was on average 20 years ago, and I won't deny it may have happened. But you haven't answered my question as to why they would have been there (despite me asking 3 times now). With regard your assertion Neither of us know whether City fans were there or not, I can assure you I do know and they weren't.! but more intriguing is your instinct to believe what the Rovers fans are saying above City fans and some basic evidence that points to the contrary.?
I ask again, Why would City fans pay to go watch what was in all (high) probability going to be Rovers fans celebrating staying up? As I said earlier, I don't know if there WERE city fans in there. In answer to your question though, it would be the possibility, however small, of enjoying Rovers exit from the football league. Some City fans get lots of pleasure from that - as would the gasheads if the boot was on the other foot. I don't, because I think it underlines just how poor football is in Bristol, but hey ho, each to their own. You are declaring the absence of ANY City fans as a fact - I don't understand how you can be so certain. I am saying that I DON'T KNOW, not making a statement that there WERE city fans there. I wasn't there myself and a couple of Mansfield fans wouldn't necessarily know exactly where everyone came from in the away end.
"In answer to your question though, it would be the possibility, however small, of enjoying Rovers exit from the football league" That still doesn't answer the question, so I will say it one more time, but clearer. Why would any City fan PAY to enter the Rovers ground for the SMALL possibility that Rovers who only a week earlier HAD beaten Wycombe in a vital game, and THEIR FANS had invaded the pitch to celebrate staying up.? The Mansfield fans (not 1 or 2) on their forums were adamant there was no City presence in the ground that day.! they will know more than both you and I, because they were there.! You seem to have more of an inclination to believe a few lying Sags. despite the fact you say you weren't there, above simple facts and City fans telling you they KNOW there weren't any City fans in there? Why is that.?
No, I was too busy kicking a passing giraffe. It was mayhem. There was all kinds of animals being abused Rod, you would've been in your element
I was in stunned silence, then I went home in stunned silence, only stopping to assault an okapi. I saw no C*ty shirts. But, I can't be sure there were none because I was on the same side as the away terrace further along so I couldn't 't see the Stags fans. If I was a Stag, I couldn't say for certain there were no Red shirts there because when you're on a terrace you can't see what someone 20ft away from you is wearing. I think the whole argument's is a bit pointless. All clubs have their idiots. And let's face it, if you can't riot when you've been relegated from the football league, when CAN you riot?
Most city fans had little or no interest in the game due to the fact "they thought it was all over!" Still can't believe they threw it away. Why would any opposition fans go into the away end on that basis? (Assuming they did where was the p1ss take banner!). Just clutching at straws as the family club continues to sink to new depths, to the true and loyal fans my heart goes out to you and the predicament you find yourself in, from the pitch, to the terraces, ground and board it's rotten to the core To the methane monkey nutters, carry on you are taking your club into oblivion....
please log in to view this image No good asking a "gashead" about the shirts people were wearing, Christ, Sir Colin smacked them out of the league wearing a borrowed "gashead" shirt... Just look and enjoy...
