To be fair, we're going to have to be at our best on Saturday. Sunday Express. : Sat, August 16, 2014 Expectations high at Newcastle as Alan Pardew fields 'best ever' squad ALAN PARDEW seems happy to crank up both expectation and pressure having hailed his "best ever" squad and talking up Newcastle's challenge for the Champions League.
**** the whole stupid name change crap, what about the owner leaving? Does that bring uncertainty into it for Bruce?
If Steve Bruce was to say to Mr Allam drop the name change or I go he would be out the door in a flash such is the madness of Assem Allam
Let's look at some of the idiots Ashley has appointed - Dennis Wise and Joe Kinnear, to name just two - so his judgement in football appointments seems somewhat lacking, so what makes anyone believe that this time that he won't make another loony appointment. Then let us all remember Bruce was going to be next Southampton manager - the usual suspects blamed Allam for him going to St Marys. It appears that Giggs is being lined up for the next Man Utd manager - so Bruce looks to have missed out on that appointment. Which leaves us with Roy's replacement as England manager - now nobody will begrudge Bruce leaving us to take that job surely, no matter who the chairman of any football club is - they are blameless when that job comes calling, as the prestige and honour of managing your country (especially when you never got to play for the national team) is such a pull that any decent manager would never be able to say no. So in short, those convinced Bruce is leaving us should put their wallets where their mouths are and bet heavily on Bruce being next Newcastle manager, as it is a done deal in their eyes. Whereas I am looking forward to Bruce still being here until Roy is fired
why would bruce walk out because of uncertainty with us to go to a club with just as much uncertainty ... 25% of Our fans maybe against our owners and 100% of Newcastle fans against there's he always says how much he appreciates a chairman who does not get involved with football issues to move to a club with a chairman who tells all his managers what they should do. Just cant see it myself not after what happened at Sunderland.
For anybody not watching MOTD2 Extra on BBC1 just now, Mark Chapman said Steve Bruce slammed the reporter for suggesting the link and can't believe people are even linking him with a job when Pardew is still in the role in an interview on 5Live.
From the BBC football page: "I have only been at Hull a couple of years and they have been really good. They gave me the chance to get up and running again and for that I will always be grateful." This is the first factual data courtesy of SB. I do not like the tone of it - it suggests that he would weigh up his possibilities should the Mags position be offered.
Why would he walk out simple because he is a Newcastle lad obviously other things would come into it and lets be honest he's made his self a big name doing a great job well who as been backed by a chairman who as put is money were is mouth is how ever like the rest of us he must be getting sick of all this off the field stuff because he is right in the middle of it all the time and this would be a chance to manage a big club who are at there lowest so i think he must be very tempted if the offer comes
If I was Newcastle, I would get Pulis in to stop the rot on a short term (til end of season) and look at wider picture in the summer. As for Bruce, if offered, it would be very tempting despite which team (playing team) is seen as better. I simply don't know which way it would/could go, should he be offered it.
But he's a lifelong Newcastle fan, you have to think how much he would like to manage that club, the only downside being Mike Ashley, however he is possibly looking to sell Newcastle in order to buy Rangers & Newcastle with Bruce in charge would make it a more attractive purchase
If Bruce was not intersted in the Newcastle job,it would of been best for him not to comment on the speculation. When he said he was just concentrating on the West Ham game, he clearly isn't. It's a shame but that's how it is. Nothing to do with name change or Allams, just his own ego and if he wants to jump into the Pit what is Newcastle then let him go.Although he has yet to be offered the job. If anything it's disrespectful to Hull City how he has commented on the speculation at all.!
