You serioursly have no idea about addiction.

I used to be a psychologist but now I manage a Substance Misuse day programme. Trust me we have rich and poor people on our programme. Over the years we've had GP's, Pilots, Stock brokers, A man behind an extremeley successful high street branded shop (over 1000 shops nationwide), but we've also had homeless people, single mothers, and just generally poor people.

Read up about it. Especially the disease concept - which BTW has got more people into recovery than any other belief.

Having money doesn't make you happy - it just fills a void you may have in your life, as you can do what you want when you want. In fact money brings more stress and worry into your life "Money is the root of ALL evil"

    Well said.

Look at all the actors, musicians etc who have addictions. Their financial freedom makes temptation all the harder to resist.

Nah thats not entirely true regarding money. Yes some people are wide open to the dark side of being rich but not all. Money can do good and bad and both people with or without can have addictions.

Its the person. Not what the person has.

Sorry, don't go along with any of this. Drugs are illegal for a reason. Simple rule, dont take them

Seriously? a lot of our clients our in for alcohol. We also have a lot of clients referred to us that are on prescription drugs and over the counter drugs, that contain enough Codiene in to get you ****ed - Codiene is HIGHLY addictive, yet readily available. For example 'Nurofen plus' has 12.8mg of codeine in each tablet - you can buy a box of 32 over the counter quite easily - you take the whole box and you'll nearly be as high as having a hit of heroin.

Plus I'm starting to notice a slight increase (which willl increase dramatically over time) for people using Reseach Chemicals - Legal highs. There are 100's of websites that sell them.

Once again you're showing a huge amount of naivety around this, infact I'd go as far as to say you know absolutely nothing about addiction.

Agree with pretty much everything, but I wouldn't publicise that mate. I bet someone reading it will think it's worth a try.

Not naive about drugs at all. If you want to get smacked off your head , get on with it. By why the f**k should everyone pay extra taxes to pay for a smackheads addiction, when the post code lottery decides whether someone gets cancer treatment.

Codeine is roughly one tenth the strength of morphine, so theoretically, you could get smacked off your tits on a box of Nurofen+. Though the ibuprofen could give you a stomach ulcer or **** your kidneys up in the long run. The only real reason pharmaceutical companies put the ibuprofen/paracetamol in over the counter codeine preparations is to prevent people getting hooked on the opiate. Unfortunately, it doesn't work, and people **** themselves up. That's how comedian Mel Smith died.

But if you use cold water extraction... :bandit:

Seriously though, drugs are bad, m'kay?

What you've just said could be applied to cigarette smokers, boozers and fat gets. All legal.

We all think similar on occasion, this just the way of the human being. It'd be nice if everyone had your levels of self control but some succumb to it. Quite often because they have an absolutely ****e life.

I havn't lived a sheltered life Chief, far from it. Without going into details have been though some pretty serious times, including family and financial, with extreme stress levels. Not once did I turn to drugs, just wasn't part of the equation. The problem will still be there, its part of life to face up to realities and get on with it and sort it out.

I don't have a problem with people taking drugs, it's up to them what they wanna do. I don't touch drugs myself, but I wouldn't look down on someone who does.

I think the drug laws in this country are over the top. If someone wants to smoke a joint in the comfort of there own home in the evening to unwind then let them. They're not harming anyone else.

    Ahhhh the old CWE.

Most common with over the counter codiene addicts although it can't be done with ibuprofen - It has to have paracetemol in it.

But there are 1000's of people out there doing it.

Just like you can buy Poppy pods legally online (even on amazon!!) and poppy pod tea is ****ing lethal.

I'd say it's common knowledge you can buy strong codiene based tablets over the counter, if not.

FFS don't try this at home <ok>
