We saw that Balotelli was a threat 2 weeks ago v Spurs when he had a partner up there with him. Him and Sturridge will form a decent partnership when fit with Sterling behind them, I'm sure of it.
Oh both of them better than Aspas... just means BR plans didn't work and now he's just throwing on new striker and rolling the dice.
Footballers are so dumb. You have a player boxed in, going no where, facing his own goal and the best he can do is put it out for a throw.. so instead you put your hands all over him and foul him so they get a free kick
Lambert equaliser with Borini winner in the last minute If Guzen is getting wound up by that he has no hope of being a GK, Lovren hardly touched him
We haven't looked good with 4-5-1/4-3-3/4-2-3-1 (whatever you want to call it) yet anyway. We only looked threatening Vs City when Lambert came on, Vs Southampton bringing Lambert on pretty much won us the game & Vs Spurs we had 2 up top from the start and looked superb. Still adjusting from the loss of Suarez on that front it seems...
Oh look a yellow for our player....Don't think he actually touched him, maybe that was what the ref didn't like. No contact.....
For those keeping count on the comparison to games last season, when we lose this we are 1 point worse than the same fixture last season. We have looked so so poor from the get go, 3 points wasted.
Unless we score in the next 10 mins, I'm going to have to be careful when making my tea. Careful to put the food in the oven and not my head
Arsenal and city dropping points, thankfully for them, they actually gained points on us today... Wouldn't bet against Ludogorets midweek getting something.
Look how many of these players have never, or hardly, played together before.. Only Gerrard, Henderson & Coutinho have really played together enough to develop an understanding of each others' games. The real mistake was giving so many players their first home starts in the same game.
Terrible all round today. Can't give anyone a mark over 6. 6 new faces in the team today is just too many. I know we had injury problems but we need to introduce the new players gradually, not throw them all in at once. Giving Lallana & Markovic their proper debuts in the same game with Coutinho not on form and without our two best players in Sturridge & Sterling was a huge risk, and it's one that's not paid off for Rodgers. He says it was h fault for the 2-2 draw here last year when he set the team up wrong, well he's done the exact same today. Last year, they worked Gerrard out, stick a man on him and the only thing he can do these days (play passes when given time and space) becomes redundant and you effectively only play with 10 men.
