I think you will find the majority on here are happy with his ownership just not happy with the name change fiasco. There has never been any concrete evidence that changing the name will bring in more investment. Ehab even admitted that they had no sponsorship deal for "Tigers". This brings me to the conclusion that he has this idea in his head and because he is used to getting his own way he doesn't see why this should be any different. He has actually said "nobody tells me how to run my business" so it really all is down to his stubbornness and not based on good business practice. That is why I cannot accept the name change which will make us stand out like a sore thumb in the Premiership Table and really anyone listening to his press conference ramblings must agree that he is a bit of a loony as well.
This. All this has done is reopen old wounds and raise tensions among fans again. Instead of looking forward to the signings his buffoonish ramblings have taken over proceedings. Brucie has once again had to come out and attempt to calm tensions and keep both parties happy. I'd expect the noise at 19:04 to be louder than ever after this latest farce.
You're wrong then. The business name was Hull City AFC (Tigers) Ltd or something very close to that. It wasn't Hull City Tigers until 2013 when Allam changed it. So the quality of football is the important thing for you? You're entitled to that stance but it's glory hunting.
I think you will find that Adam Pearson changed the name in 2000. He didn't inform anyone. Quality football should be synonymous with Premier League football. If you want to watch lesser quality football because of a name change then that is your prerogative. How anyone can give up supporting their Club because of a slight change in the name is beyond me. I don't think you would find Newcastle supporters going to watch Sunderland if their Club name was changed to Newcastle Magpies.
Market research seems the way to go then - but of course, that won't happen. And once Assem has said something... you know how that ends. In all seriousness, when have you ever heard of someone making a business decision because something might happen? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?46334-Shirt-Sponsorship-League-Table#.VBRVuPldWwU Here are the values of the last couple of seasons' sponsorship deals. You can see where the majority of the PL deals lie. Are we really going to get someone to give us 5m+ just because we have Tigers in our name? and even at 5m - that's about the difference for finishing 3 places higher in the PL. Look at the teams getting the higher sponsorships. It is purely down to success. Win on the pitch, get more. Lose, get less... Any deal Hull Tigers can get would also be available to Hull City.
I like the idea that Bruce and the Allam's read the posts on this board to one another, pissing themselves laughing at the bullshit you write.
Adam Pearson formed a company to purchase Hull City, it was already called Hull City AFC Ltd, so he needed to call it something else, he went for Hull City AFC(Tigers) Ltd, it was no secret. It's a complete red herring anyway, as nobody gives a **** what the business is called.
So if concrete evidence were presented then all the name worshippers would accept it? Would they ****.
He may well have changed the business name, but until spring 2013 it was Hull City AFC (Tigers) Ltd or therabouts and most certainly was not Hull City Tigers. Business change their names all the time and don't inform anyone, including football clubs. Playing names however do not, and should not change. Newcastle fans wouldn't go and support Sunderland, but they wouldn't support Newcastle Magpies either. In fact they're a great example, they despise and stand up to their owner for doing much more trivial things than what Allam's doing, while some of ours seem to just accept whatever he does cos he's got money. The quality of football doesn't affect it for me, it's nice to be successful but it doesn't affect my status as a City fan. If success is more important to you than the identity of the club you're watching then you can't be much of a fan. The fact that it's ****ing ridiculous. Of course it can't be proved either way without doing it, but either way you'd have to be extremely stupid to think that changing our name will somehow make us a better team or make us money. There's absolutely no logic behind it, and the best argument so far has been that if Assem Allam says so it must be right. Yet another totally worthless post by one of the usual suspects. What is this based on? I don't even expect concrete evidence, but even a slight suggestion that this might make money would make it 10 times less ridiculous than it currently is. But there isn't any. Not one shred of evidence which even implies it might be a good idea. In fact the opposite is true, several sports marketing experts explained over the course of last season why it's such a totally ****ing moronic idea to try and change the name of a football club to make money.
It was in the papers and on the web at the time ffs. But that's the name of a Company that owned Hull City AFC.
Liverpool are owned by Fenway Sports Group. No has ever made a big deal out of that because it's only the company that owns it.
And that is precisely why your viewpoint has no relevance whatsoever. You are not a Hull City supporter.
I will be watching Hull City regardless of any name change - that's the team that plays at the KC Stadium and is currently in the English Premier League. You go and watch Hull United (should there be a name change) and leave your toys outside your pram - someone will pick them up for you.
another example is: if your mum changed her name. so by your/CTWD logic she would cease to be your mum.
Since Hull City started in 1904 to the present day many clubs in football worldwide have changed their playing names. One of the most recent is here in Aus where Melbourne Heart have been re-named Melbourne City. My family support for Hull City goes back to their start through my grandfather followed by my father and me starting support from 1946. Would I like the name Hull City to continue? Yes. If it was changed to Hull Tigers would I discontinue support? No.
I can't wait for the name change to happen cos then it will be interesting to see what Lambo and PLT et al will do.
