While we are all wasting our life on here what else do you get up to? I usually play chess, read the papers and then come back on here. Anyone actually do anything worthwhile as well as been on here. Which is very important obviously. I expect some weird and wonderful interests and hobbies.
I watch sport. Mainly cricket and football. I've also been learning/playing guitar since January 2013. Which is best thing I've ever done.
I love cooking, trying out new dishes and ingredients. I also go to the gym 4-5 times a week, i go on my bike if it's dry and it's about 30 mins each way plus 1 hour in the gym so quite a good work out all in all
I used to be a keen golfer, but had to give up for a while due to business commitments. Since coming back to Gods county of Yorkshire I took up cycling as a way of keeping fit, and now that is my main hobby apart from going to watch City.
This place keeps me amused and sometimes informed, just sad at the bile passed between members sometimes. Reading, actual books and a Kindle I find both as good as each other although the Kindle is easier to lug about. And my computer, was fascinated back in the 80's and I am still fascinated, if now a little frightened, of what they can do. Computers are taking over and I do read a lot of online techie stuff, like The Verge, The Register, The Inquirer, Tech Crunch, to name a few and what is on the horizon I cannot say fills me optimism. It seems to the that computers are becoming like humans, robots AI and the such and look at the mess humans have made of the planet. But technology in general fascinates me I have just read that Sandisk have an SD or 512 GB not MB so half a terrabyte of memory on a little card whereas I still have some floppy discs, amazing. HDD are now for sale that are 8 TB yes terrabytes a mind boggling storage capacity. But lets not forget sport, on TV for me mainly, which is football and snooker, poole doesn't float my boat I like the technicality of snooker, even more so with billiards, which is more or less extinct now. Oh and I play the guitar and have written a few of my own songs, sang and recorded into my computer microphone and even if I say so myself its sounds rubbish LOL. I'm also trying to write a book, I can do short stories but sustaining a storyline with many characters is quite a task and I understand why writers lock themselves away and write all day and night, I will keep plugging away. And I like photography, I am not trained in anyway and cannot keep up with the latest cameras HD now, but many people take pictures with their phones anyway, but like today later on I will be seeing as much of the Heritage stuff in Hull as I can as buildings are open to the public which present many photographic opportunities and despite what many people say about Hull, mostly derogatory, I still think there is quite a lot to see if you look. But when was the last time you looked UPWARDS? Some of the architecture is beautiful, last year there was an open day at the Trinity Church and you could go on the roof for £1 donation, that was fantastic, so looking forward to this years Open Event.
At present, I'm chain-sawing and splitting logs for winter fuel. I'm trying to get my garden back into shape and then, if I can manage, I've got a 10' x 6' greenhouse to erect. I'm getting to do longer and longer walks with my terrier, doing some field and hedgerow foraging too. I read quite a bit; play recorded music; and watch films/series/documentaries. I sing a bit and did, until RA visited me, attempt a bit of guitar, to be able to accompany myself.
Well, being retired for 10 years now I recently found a new hobby which is supplementing my pension - I make Clocks! I spend my time either drinking heavily or going to the gym. In states of near euphoria or somber melancholy. There is no in between.
I generally post between work. I post on this site for what could be an strange reason. Beyond, the debate, beyond Hull City. This forum helps me work better. I have to write reports, statements and letters. Posting is a diversion that also helps in getting structure to reports. The normal stuff like spelling, grammar and construction. I paint and write short stories. I have worked on a couple of novels, but getting to the end seems difficult. I am trying watercolours, having moved on from acrylic. On the way to Wembley, our group was sat with an older couple, they where going to London to look at her exhibition in a gallery. My mate sat there and said "Mel should do that, his paintings are very good". I was gob smacked. I paint for myself and think that they are all a bit naff! C'mon ref shares another interest, my first computer was a Commodore Vic 20. I have built a robot and I like techie stuff, but after a breakdown, I lost the ability to program, I just do not understand things like I once did. I love the banter and the slating, Fez once said that it was akin to sitting round a table in a pub and that is just how I see it.
Work, guitar, effects and amps obsession. Learning the drums, football (playing and watching), family life and work all in no particular order!
I spend my time working a lot. I can't get on here very often, if I'm not working for HCC, I'm in TX. Due to Shell selling contracts to indepentant copanies I am hoping to move over there permenantly soon, and moving to one of these smaller companies.
When not pissing people off at work by demanding they pay on time - studying JavaScript/JQuery for my future career change, running a local weather forecasting page, various blogs (just starting a new one called The Only Tory From Hull), occasional DJing (underground house/minimal techno), listening to 200+ new tracks a week, website designing/management, learning to cook properly and going out a fair bit too.
Work, get home, get the kids sorted and then on here if the missus allows me. If not, I'm usually watching Marley & Me on the sofa with a few tinnies.
