Please don't patronise us. You older fans have a nasty habit of assuming that younger generations 'just don't get it'. I can tell you now that I'm 26 years old, I'm about to start studying for my third degree (teaching this time) and my age has nothing to do with my knowledge of football history or what's going on in the wider world. Believe me, we're smart enough to know that what's going on isn't right. It's those that go along with the "it's his club, he can do what he wants" that are wrong. I have a dog (a Border Terrier) that I pay for, do you think it'd be acceptable to kick it around the garden, simply because it's mine and I paid for it? Or train it to learn it's name and then change it to something ridiculous so that when I call it in public it's heart sinks with embarrassment?
A so-called fan refers to the club as "Hull" then goes on to question the actions of supporters trying to defend the club's real name. I was going to describe this as "ironic", but it isn't; it's perfectly logical, and it sums up the vapid, soulless, uninformed response of cockbenders like him.
Could also be that tigerpants54 is talking bollocks and is simply another on the Allam payroll paid to come on here and try to usurp the CTWD masters.
Even that million is in doubt, Ehab Allam said there was no sponsor lined up if we changed to Hull Tigers. One of them must be telling fibs.
Wrong. There is a football club, based in, and representing the city of Hull that I support. Personally I've been going (OK, technically I was taken, but it's all part of the process) since the mid 60s. I am a fan of that club. That club is currently called Hull City. I am a fan of that club. Therefore I am a fan of Hull City. Or Hull City AFC if you want. Next year that club could be called Hull Tigers. Same club. I will still be a fan. I will just be a fan of the Hull Tigers. Remember, history is a record of the past, not a set of absolutes for the future.
Tigerpants 54 - I am not a member of CTWD but I respectfully suggest you read the statement that they put out yesterday. It was respectful of the great things that we have achieved under the Allam regime and in no way used abusive or detrimental terminology towards our owners. The only problem many Hull City supporters have with Assem Allam is with his intention to change the name of the club to the Hull Tigers. Like you I have supported Hull City in all 4 divisions - I have stood in every stand at Boothferry Park and have sat in every stand at the KC. I am willing to listen to valid points of debate from both sides. However, yesterday's interview with AA said nothing about any potential benefits a change of name would bring to the club and I found it quite sad that he came across as more like a petulant child than a reasoning businessman. I only hope yesterday and the uncertainty it brought with it - despite AA's claim to be doing the opposite - does not have a detrimental effect upon the team's performances on the pitch.
So this guy is furious that people such as Curtis Woodhouse say he's not a real fan, just a glory hunter, if he wants the name to change snd his defence is that he'd have took being called Hull Tigers if it meant being in the PL, cup final etc. That's the definition of a glory hunter you silly ****. For most of us, the team is the most important thing. Having a team, our team, Hull City, to watch every week is the main thing. Any success is nice but that isn't a reason to support City or stop doing. Accepting a name change for success is very much glory hunting. How can you not see that? That argument is typical of the pro name changer. Outraged for a reason that makes no sense. In over a year now we still haven't had one argument of any merit in support bof changing the name. Not one shred of evidence. It's all just this kind of bollocks again and again. This is why you're the subject of such scorn.
Well I am 78 and I think you are a knobhead. If you are such a loyal supporter then you should appreciate that the name should not be trivialised. Anyway, what's wrong with a few insults, we're just following Mr.Allam's example!!
curtis woodhouse @woodhousecurtis · 6h I know Hull people, I'm from just down the road in Driffield, they won't be pushed about or sell out, Allam will lose #NoToHullTigers curtis woodhouse @woodhousecurtis · 6h Hull City was here before Allam came, it will be here when he takes his ball and his dummy home, not everything is for sale #NoToHullTigers curtis woodhouse @woodhousecurtis · 6h Agree or disagree you have to admire the fans stance, our name is not for sale #NoToHullTigers #football curtis woodhouse @woodhousecurtis · 6h I like that the HUL CITY fans are basically saying we don't care how much money you have your not changing our name, something you can't buy curtis woodhouse @woodhousecurtis · 6h Hull City owner making me chuckle this morning, basically saying change the name to hull tigers or I'm taking my ball home, HULL CITY end of
I agree with the points you make here, and I understand, but I think if he thinks it will benefit the club, so be it, as long as I can watch the team I have been watching for many years that play in Black & Amber, You just have to move on. Like Steve Bruce said, Arsenal had to move stadium, the premier league came along, we moved out of boothferry! Changes happen, and when Hull City are known as Hull Tigers, this will all be forgoton I'm afraid! and we will all be supporting Hull Tigers in the same way, we support Hull City! Please don't be disrespectful about my grammer, whoever that was, you can always leave me a private message, I dont mind discussing my english grammer with you!
But we did that as Hull City AFC. No need to sell your soul to the devil... I think Curtis Woodhouse is spot on. ps. It's would HAVE, should HAVE, could HAVE. Give your o and f keys a rest, you'll wear them out!
2 degrees required to come up with this.I stongly suspect one of your degrees is in Media Studies.Let us hope you drop out of your teaching course or we will have another "no experience of life" man amongst boys wallah to "inspire" the next generation.Nothing worse than a jumped up teacher type getting wet by putting the rest of us in our place.
