So 6 points separates it now, a difference of 2 from yesterday. Just caught Salmonds speech on the lunch time news, he is a deplorable individual. His words carry no weight what so ever. BP coming out in support of the No campaign will hopefully go a long way in convincing the under 18's Scotland don't have as much oil money as Salmond has made out.
how will england cope without scottish oil? is maybe the question you should be asking im sure scotland will get by just fine with it.
On the local news, there was a rallying cry from one, wait for it, Michael Stewart to vote yes. The guy who thought he was too good for us and never played professionally again. In fact, this was the first time he's been since. I'll take down the missing posters now. Is it Scottish oil? I thought it was internationally owned.
Yes I heard that. Didn't they describe him as a "Manchester United player"? Salmond is playing the "Westminster Politicians" card for all it's worth. As if Holyrood politicians are any different. If he wants to look back at Scotland's history he must know it was Scottish landowners who drove the population out of the Highlands because sheep-farming was more profitable.
Salmons looking back at Scottish history? Don't be silly, he's only interested in creating it. For himself. And Michael Stewart was indeed described as former Manchester United and Scotland international, with an archive clip of him receiving silver where at OT. You know, because that will influence votes.
The oil myth was debunked by independent Scottish energy expert Sir Iain Mills yesterday. Two or three years more of peak extraction....followed by a gradual decline and potential exhaustion by 2048. Go your own way by all means, but not dont crawling back to your bigger brother when the black stuff runs out as it will.
#bettertogether
We lost ybabobmij, who went to CL as Sillybilly, which leaves only me, but as I'm used to being surrounded by the Inglish, living with 3 of the buggers, that's OK.
I'm still here Bill. I just got out of the habit of posting when it all went downhill after/around the Ackers and Tewkes saga which I found tiresome and the site is a poorer place without the latter. Still read the posts from time to time although traffic seems to be diminishing, at least in certain quarters. I might get back into the habit again as the bishop said to the nun. Quite enjoying this season I have to say. As for our cousins in God's country, I just hope that good sense prevails and I think it will. But it will be closer than it should have been. El Presidente Salmondo and the Fish Woman really make my skin creep. And there will be lasting damage even after a no vote. Ho Hum. PS. My alter ego was on CL for at least a couple of years before I stopped posting here. Never understood why that site gets so much grief on here.
Nice to see you post again bob... I was a bit worried in that you had the medical problem and then stopped posting...... hope you are back to your fighting best
Hi, Obmij, good to see you back. Yes the SNP have run a pretty fraudulent campaign IMO, whenever the drawbacks are pointed out they call it scaremongering. I expect the last week of campaigning to see their weakness on the currency exposed, resulting in a clear NO vote. I can understand the SNP's popularity though, traditional Labour voters haven't had anyone to vote for since Milord Mandy and Tony B. Liar repackaged the party and turned it into a sales machine. I read CL quite regularly, but seldom post on it because anything I want to say has always been said already by someone else.
Cheers guys. Yes, health wise I'm back on the go albeit after a second round of heart surgery in April. I won't be running many marathons but I'm still here and forever grateful to our advances in medical science and the good doctors and nurses who apply them. Passed my half century last week so I now have my new red kit with "Jim 50" on the back. My mate took my weight loss a bit too literally and only bought a large so if you see a tightly wrapped guy tomorrow with said shirt please come and say hello!
