To be fair, they all have problems.

Gameiro never wanted to come, always favoured PSG or Valencia.
Gervinho favoured Arsenal, isnt an out and out striker and we'd lose him for the ACON.
We havent actually missed out on Erdinc yet, but if he's being offered to Lille for Hazard its out of our control.
Wickham was seen as too much of a gamble, understandably.

I would like to see us get Sturridge, but 15M is a hell of a lot for half a good season.

We'll have other targets, relax <ok>

My worst nightmare is that we have Shola and Lover paired again as a strikeforce if Ba is injured. As a Premiership strikeforce they suck bigtime.

But we all agree Carroll wasn't worth £35M. I don't think Sturridge is worth £15M-£20M. Though they have similar goal ratios Sturridge 14 from 59 Carroll 34 from 97 senior games. Obviously Carroll had better service at ours than Sturridge at Chelski or Citeh <ok> <laugh>

Carr will have some more targets lined up. The window doesn't even officially open until tomorrow and there are two months of dealing still to be done. Don't panic!

btw never wanted Wickham and don't think we were ever seriously after him. Sturridge yes good player, but £15m or higher it too much for him.

We'll get what we need have some faith!

we will never get sturridge as a transfer maybe as a loan. mario gomez was meant to be a target but that seems too farfetched to be honest. there is hundreds of strikers out there capable of playing at this level, if we didnt know we were in for erdnic do you really think anyone on this forum would mention him as a possible transfer? probably not.

im glad we havnt got wickham he would either be a waste of money and floop or be excellent and leave either for a large fee or run his contract down and join a better club.

i think we need a pacey forward loic remy would be one id look at probably be about 12m maybe more, lucas podolski has had a poor season but i think hes quality he is like a shadow striker plays off the front man but id love him here and i think he is a realistic target, maybe we should look to strikers who are obviously unsetteled but are at big clubs who want to get rid of them think adebayor, santa cruz and bellamy at city, or anelka at chelsea. should be a low transfer fee realativly high wages and against our new policy but they are proven players and would help us greatly

Sid - Where did you get the idea we've got the money for Sturridge? Don't you know we've actually got very little. Apparantly the 35m fell out of Mikes pockets and down the back of Dereks sofa when he was round for their weekly game of twister. This years transfer budget was with it in an unfortunate turn of events. Derek swears he's searched high and low, but now it's just had to written off. We're not worried though, a few sales, a few cheap foreign replacements, we'll be all set for our survival bid again. Happy days.
