No doubt it's very dark but also very funny at times, I love that kind of thing. Lol's dad was a frightening character.

Indeed, I wouldnt say I am particularly squeamish, but that rape scene was just a tad too graphic for me I am afraid.
    Almost gratuitous!

Its a very well written and acted series, with some great actors (Stephen Graham, who plays Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire, and Vicky McClure are the standouts).
but it is VERY VERY dark and depressing at times. Worth a watch though.

I still maintain that Breaking Bad, although a very good show, is very over rated. It is by no means the best show ever, or even in the top 5 for me.

Yes i know what you mean it became overrated because it was so easy to get into.

For 5 sesons it basically followed 2 characters and the supporting cast wasn't that big either maybe 20 others in total,
ranging from a couple of episodes to a fair bit of screen time.

Plus its essentially more a comedy than a drama so it made it very accessible.

But thats what i enjoyed so much about it it was refreshing to a thrilling drama that made me laugh.

My main problems with Breaking Bad are the following: * SPOILERS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT*

    1) The show went on for a season longer than it should have, should have finished when Gus died.

    2) Jesse's character got ruined, in the last season he was a blubbery ****ing mess who just cried, whined and got beat up

    3) The whole show built up to this eventual stand off between Walt and Hank, and then when Hank finds out about Walt, finally........he gets shot by a villain of the week who becomes the end main antagonist of the show, this is a character we were introduced to 3-4 episodes ago!!

Still better than 90% of the crap on TV though and I enjoyed watching very much.

Shane Meadows has announced that the upcoming This is England 90 will be the last one, I hope it's a good one. All the cast members are back for it so that's gotta be good. I'm going to watch it through again before the new one is out.

Another British Drama that some may have missed is Top Boy I think there was 2 4 part series out and both were very good.

The good thing about channel 4 unlike the BBC is they keep all there old shows up forever on 4OD.

Been watching Twin Peaks (on Syfy), was sceptical about watching it cause lots of people say its weird as **** and its a David Lynch creation (not a fan of Lynch since Lost Highway).
Must say I'm really enjoying it, not as weird as people make out and really interesting take on a murder mystery mixed with some real odd ball comedy moments.

Also been rewatching Firefly; how that ever got cancelled is just beyond me, could have taken it so much further than they did with the film.

Give The Straight Story a go, I thought it was brilliant. I also liked Mullholland Drive.

Seen Straight Story, good if alittle slow (pun intended) Hated Mullholland Drive, same as Lost Highway. Just as we were getting somewhere in the story it jumps and we never really get to the point.

Twin Peaks feels like Blue Velvet, which is still his best.

Also he cocked up Dune, which is one of my favourite books. So my view on Lynch is rather mixed, but more towards the negative.

I only realised the other day that Jet Girl, Tank Girls sidekick from the film "Tank Girl" is Naomi Watts!!
I watched it years ago as a kid and it was on the other day, the film is ludicrous but Young Naomi Watts in Overalls and a pilots helmet!!!!! I'm weird!

Don't bother with the second one. It's trash, nowhere near as good.
