Do we know which journos will be there hope its not just the yes men from hdm and humberside. Ffs not again not another season of in fighting on here and at the games.
I think Bruce made it quite clear he thought it was wrong, when he said he was going to "have a word". Then after he did so he suddenly changed tack, presumably because Assem told him not even Steve Bruce tells him how to run his business and to check his CV, etc etc etc.
If the word is out that Assem's having a mad afternoon, you can bet your arse Sky et al won't miss out on THAT. It's TV gold.
In not sure about this, surley if this was about the name change someone would stop him having a live press conference in front of possibly the sky cameras and national media because I think they'll know if they press him hard enough he'll blow his lid and it'll turn into a pr disaster. He'd be safer giving an interview to burnsy and the fail who to be honest won't press him to hard in fear of not getting any more stories or banned from the ground etc..
Of course, just a thought... this "leak" that it's about the name change could be someone playing silly bastards [the source not the messenger], or a deliberate smoke screen [by the Doc or someone close to him], or something similar...
Mad old bastard if it's the name change again I really hope he clears off for good , he really is getting on my nerves , what happened to putting the cost of passes up as a result of not getting the name change ? He sticks everybody's pass up to try again , can't stand the ****er
It'd certainly guarantee a good press attendance. The problem is, for that to have been the plan, they'd have to acknowledge why Assem is viewed in some circles as a PR disaster. I can't see him doing that.
I absolutely despise our owner, i really do. And people question when I say he's the worst in our entire history. These threats are truly pathetic. He simply cannot comprehend that he can't get his own way and he isnt bowed down to like the All Powerful Oz. "I'm changing the name or selling". The football world responds with a collective shrug of 'ok then, sell'. Didnt he categorically say 24 hours last time? It's only taken him several months to go back to making exactly the same threat.... But this is just it, he won't listen to any professional advice. Why do you think the club doesnt employ a top PR professional?
I did want him to stat, but If he brings up the name change again then he can **** off and sell us. How ****ing embarrassing is this going to be now.
Don't worry, the press and football world will tear strips off him. I don't remember anyone with any credibility in football backing him. There is only one person who does not see it as a joke, and that is Golum himself. It is crazy, the club should be looking to move forward and progress on the field after our immense transfer window. But, here we go again............
The decision of the FA was based on a ballot of its membership and whilst it may be challenged, unless there is fault with the process, I cannot see what is to be gained by this. He has the support for a name change linked to his continuance as an owner, but a ballot of season card holders now, will not have any bearing on the FA. How will 12Bet read this situation? They have a deal in place and if it was me I would not be happy. Assem Allam should step down and do it quickly. He is too far removed from the reality of life. Hull City supporters will not rally round their saviour, they will not be treated like the homeless who have to listen to a sermon before getting a bed for the night. Like a preacher from the pulpit, Assem has had support from his congregation, times where hard and supporters needed the reassurance that only a wealthy owner can bring. But now the same sermon is tired and worn out, the truth has been exposed, the club only needs success on the field of play in order to survive. Even his own Son says that the club is self sufficient and will show a profit. The agruement to support a name change was lost when it was made clear, that the revenue from sponsorship would never be enough to make or break the club. Assem will turn this whole debate away from his need to save the club from peril, into a personal fight against the FA and those who do not support his vision. That is unfortunate, in fact it will demonstrate something else, something beyond arrogance, Assem Allam has let his ego, rule his business sense. Once any business starts to make choices based on the ego of the owner and not by calculation, all business matters have to be questioned. The high spend in the transfer market, may not be a sign of the owners wishing to give the club a stronger future, but more like showing off the wealth of the owner in order to impress. I am sorry to say that if Assem Allam does re-ignite the name change debate, he will lose everything that a sensible man should hold dear. The respect of others.
This is the first step in him walking away and saving face, appeal which I suspect he knows he'll lose, club up for sale. What's worries me the most is not him selling, but the air of uncertainty that will hang over the club, if it is the name change issue again, it utter bloody madness, best manager, best squad, looking forward to a good season, AA leave it alone and enjoy it for god's shake.
I think most of the people on here appose the name change thudd.those i speak to that agree with it are almost always armchair fans who watch on the computer for free.in my experience that is.
No guarantee a sale will be forthcoming quickly - Villa have been up for sale for months and Newcastle for years - no one interested.
The biggest worry is the manager. He wont want to go through this again. Imagine if the club he supported all his life had a deeply unpopular manager in charge at present....
One of the reasons that Assem Allam will not do well when being interviewed is his stated claustrophobia. He starts to panic. If he has to sit down in a room full of the press, he will lay himself open to a really hard time. The sports press will force a headline out of him and he will look foolish if previous statements are anything to go by.
Hopefully he's either sold the club or he's got an investor which means the name change farce can be dropped. If this is the case I'd expect Melton to get a mention
